Chinese President Hu Jintao sought to assure U.S. business leaders on Thursday that his country is an economic partner and not a military threat to America or anyone else. But he rejected foreign interference on issues such as Tibet and Taiwan.
"We will remain committed to the path of peaceful development," Hu told a U.S.-China Business Council luncheon. "We do not engage in an arms race, we are not a military threat to any country. China will never seek to dominate or pursue an expansionist policy."

Tibet, Taiwan, Japan...
I have the question that will make his head explode. “What about Taiwan?”
I don’t trust Communists and now thanks to globalization they are a modern well equipped Army

Tibet, Taiwan, Japan...
These are not the droids you’re looking for....
yeah, neither is Sharia takeover in America.
The United States!
Hu wouldn’t recognize Taiwan as an independent nation.
I don’t think we’ll ever fight China. They saw what happened to a rambunctious rookie imperial power in WWII. Their real philosophy is incrementalism. MAD still rules. I doubt they like their chances, even now.
Or Tibet. I guess the good news is Japan is safe, at least for now.
Reminds me of this scene from the movie Airplane....
Jack: Whats going on? We have a right to know the truth!
Rumack: [to the passengers] All right, Im going to level with you all. But whats most important now is that you remain calm. There is no reason to panic.
[Rumack’s nose grows]
Rumack: Now, it is true that one of the crew members is ill
slightly ill.
[Rumack’s nose grows again, like Pinocchio]
Rumack: But the other two pilots
theyre just fine. Theyre at the controls flying the plane
free to pursue a life of religious fulfillment.
Hu speaks exactly like Obama. Whatever he says, the opposite is true.
So the truth is, China will be a military threat to the world, they are in an arms race, and they are pursuing an expansionist policy.
And all their actions prove the reverse reading of what Hu says, is true.
Taiwan?
Not to be interfere in China’s internal affairs!!
Taiwan not nation, Taiwan wayward younger brother.
You showing very splittist tendencies...
His government is certainly no threat to us. They would like nothing more than for peace to continue. Peace is good business. The PLa on the other hand ... has very different priorities. They want us out of the Asia picture altogether by any means necessary. I doubt they’d invade but they could probably force us out of Asia in the next twenty years and if they gained a foothold in south america we’d be too busy guarding our southern border to bother with the rest of the world.
Isn’t that what Japanese “diplomats” were saying just before December 7, 1941???
Hu can say anything he wants to say, but it’s not going to be believed in Asia. The real problem, the one that is seldom talked about but remains the most potent, is the demographic time bomb.
By either a result of unintended consequences or deliberate policy, China will soon reaching the point where hundreds of thousands of young men will reach sexual maturity at a time when there will simply not be enough women available to go around. Can you think of anything more potentially destabilizing to a regime than that? I can’t.
Yet sexual maturity coincides with military age, so the most obvious solution will be to put all those horny young men in uniform and send them somewhere else. Somewhere that coincidentally has plenty of women.
Two birds with one stone. China expands geographically as other nations are absorbed into the “Great Mother”, young soldiers find brides in the newly conquered nations.
Don’t for a single moment think that thoughtful defense planners throughout Asia are not gravely considering this possibility.
