None of the main US political parties seemed to interest Mr. Loughner. He was a lefty in his own universe, but at the same time professed to be frustrated by nonsense language — thus he was tightly embracing his own personal hell that he chose to try to shoot his way out of.
And his family was willfully clueless about how far off his gourd Jared had gone.
Weird and dangerous, but fortunately this kind of extreme nut is rare.
