BEVIL OAKS - 3 p.m. update - The Texas Department of Public Safety says a man has been arrested on charges of causing a collision that killed a baby and his mother.
DPS Sergeant Chuck Havard said troopers found 38 year old Ines Legarda-Quezada, 38, of Sour Lake, at a residence in Winnie at about 3 p.m. Sunday. Havard said doctors are checking out Legarda at Winnie Community Hospital because he was injured in the collision that killed the baby and mother.
He'll be taken to jail on a charge of Manslaughter. Bond is set at $750,000.
Legarda-Quezada is accused of crashing into an SUV on Highway 105 in Bevil Oaks and killing Alyssa Holtzclaw,30, of Sour Lake, and her son, Jacob Tucker Holtzclaw, 9 months, at about 6:15 a.m. Sunday on Highway 105 near Pine Island Bayou, according to Sgt. Chuck Havard with the DPS.
According to Sgt. Havard, Holtzclaw was traveling east on Highway 105 in a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer when a driver heading west crossed into her lane. Holtzclaw tried to move out of the way but the driver of the 2004 Ford pickup struck her SUV on the right side.
Justice of the Peace Nancy Beaulieu pronounced the baby and mother dead.
Sgt. Havard says the driver of the truck ran away. The DPS believes he might have gotten a ride out of the area.
Holtzclaw, a mother of three, worked at Christus Hospital Saint Elizabeth. She was on the way to work and was going to drop off her son at the grandparents' home.
She is survived by her husband and two other small children.

Lord how sad for the family and the husband and the children who have lost their daughter, wife, mother. No drivers license or any other form of ID and we have a mother of three dead along with her 9 month old baby and this scum fled????? Dear God...when does civility and law and order return to this country??? When???
If he entered the country illegally during the unsecured border years of GWB, then it would be his fault. Local prosecutors should begin charging the current or previous administration officials with criminally negligent homocide.
He was actually caught at a hospital in another town trying to get treated for his own injuries.

There are answers I guess, but I'm not equipped to express them. I can only offer my paltry sympathy to the family. We have all had family loss, but this is too devastating to comprehend unless you've been there.
