Pizza Guy for President!
Yahoo News ^ | 1-13-2011 | Bryan Curtis

Posted on 01/16/2011 7:36:58 PM PST by justsaynomore

NEW YORK – Obama’s first opponent may be Herman Cain, an ex-pizza magnate whom Jack Kemp called “the Colin Powell of the restaurant industry.” Bryan Curtis talks politics with Citizen Cain. Finally, the 2012 presidential race can begin. Herman Cain has gone to Iowa.

On Saturday, Cain was at Tish’s restaurant in Council Bluffs, a city in southwestern Iowa across the river from Omaha. Fifty or so GOP activists, Tea Party regulars, and locals had gathered. Most of them had apparently heard of Herman Cain.

When he entered, they gave him a standing ovation. Cain, who is 65, is balding and bespectacled; he was wearing a white sweater vest and a button-down shirt. In a rich baritone, he began to talk about the GOP’s core issues. Taxes. Immigration. Abortion.

He unfurled his life story-cum-résumé with the ease of a motivational speaker. Then Cain slid into his speech’s raison d'etre: the secret sign that made him, Herman Cain, think of running for president of the United States. “By that time,” says David Overholtzer, a GOP activist who was in attendance, “he had some of the moms tearing up.”

“Godfather’s Pizza! The Pizza You Can’t Refuse!”

We had one in my town growing up and I really liked their pizzas. (Aftah Volcano’s, dat is...)

Cain/Palin 20112 (In whatever order you want!)

“DO IT!”

The first I heard of him was in the fight against HillaryCare, when he debated her in a town hall meeting where she claimed he could simply raise the price of pizza in order to pay for her health care plans.

He has business experience, and management experience, which is a real plus in the current economic climate.

You are truly ignorant regarding Cain. Your stereotypes do not fit this man. And Condi Rice and Alan Keyes do not belong in the same league as Thomas Sowell. Rapping and dancing? Really?

Given the little I know about his biography I’ll extend him the benefit of the doubt that he rose on his merits rather than being a ‘token.’ The Colin Powell reference sounded more like a slam.

HERMAN did not write Colin Powell, the AUTHOR did. This is Yahoo news, you do realize that Yahoo is a liberal site, right?

I will not tell you about Herman Cain because the last time I did you read me the riot act. You can do a simple search on FR to learn more, you will probably find about 20 articles about him in the past week, and multitudes over the past 10 years.

He is a true conservative, like it or not.

Let’s see, worked as a mathematician for the Navy, went from line cook to manager of 400 Burger King stores and was then promoted to CEO of Godfather’s Pizza and turned a dying franchise into a profitable one in 14 months. I can see why you’d want someone buried in the education field (Sowell and Rice) over a successful, intelligent businessman. After all, it’ll be the intellectual theorists that get our country back on track after Zero does his damage, right?

Maybe those clueless young voters who gave Obama his margin of victory in 2008 will vote for Herman Cain if he gets the Republican nomination, figuring that everyone will get free pizza every day if he’s President.

What is that supposed to mean?

Exactly what I thought. What an incredibly stupid, condescending remark.

He is a true conservative, like it or not.

He is a true Conservative who understands why that is so important.

The first time I saw him in person I knew he could be the President we have needed!

Colin Powell was an expert in military.

Cain is an expert in pizza.

That is all he meant. Nothing more, nothing less. I think it was a compliment.

Are you serious? You don’t want more conservatives in the group. Man RINO go back to DU. You should be ashamed of yourself. This is fantastic news that we can have more conservative choices. You should be proud, not disgruntled.

...whom Jack Kemp called “the Colin Powell of the restaurant industry.

ROFL! I almost peed myself laughing at that.

Someone could have just said that Oprah Winfrey called him the Liza Minelli of the restaurant industry. It would make as much sense.
