Obama speech undercuts federal charge for judge's murder (Obumbler does it again!)
Politico ^ | January 12 | Josh Gerstein

Posted on 01/12/2011 9:48:13 PM PST by PghBaldy

"Judge Roll was recommended for the federal bench by John McCain 20 years ago, appointed by President George H.W. Bush, and rose to become Arizona's chief federal judge," Obama told the crowd at the University of Arizona. Roll's "colleagues described him as the hardest-working judge within the Ninth Circuit. He was on his way back from attending mass, as he did every day, when he decided to stop by and say, 'Hi,' to his representative."

...

Loughner's alleged killing of Roll may only be a crime under federal law if Roll was on business and not merely stopping by to say hi to a friend.

Wait, do we know what “official business” he was on? The indictment itself uses the phrase without adding any details.

But he’s a brilliant legal scholar! Such a brilliant mind wouldn’t bumble something... The only conclusion, therefore, is that President Obama is actively and intentionally undercutting federal law enforcement’s criminal prosecution.

I read somewhere that the judge had planned to stop by the event to speak to Giffords about increased violence on the border.

Unless Obama was there with the judge or the judge told him something, this speech is totally irrelevant. I doubt the judge will allow the defense to say “But Obama said so on Jan 12th.”

Slow news day at Politico.

I was on Spencer Hughes’ show last night talking about how Sheriff Dumbass has been making the case for an insanity defense for Loughner with all his public statements. Now Obama is coming from the other direction, to get a charge tossed out completely.

I’m guessing Loughner’s defense attorney is sleeping a whole lot easier tonight knowing that she can bring this statement up and cause doubt in the jury members’ minds because the POTUS said the words.

According to what I've read, Judge Roll learned of Giffords's rally by chance, when he went to the Safeway after attending Mass. He then decided to stop by to greet her and thank her for writing a letter to the chief judge of the Ninth Circuit, Alex Kozinski, in support of his request for more resources to handle the swelling number of immigration cases in his district.

Is that official federal business? WTF cares? The dude shot a nine-year-old through the heart. Let Arizona put him to sleep!

The Idiot In Chief cannot help himself, can he?

I believe it was intentional and he is covering for the Sheriff. This was too coordinated to be by chance.

According to a Federal Bureau of Investigation statement filed with the criminal complaint, Roll had come to the meeting to talk to Giffords and her staff about the help she had provided trying to deal with growing volume cases in federal courts in Arizona.

The next iteration of why the Judge was there.....

He was going to complain to Giffords about all the arrests ICE was making that added too much to the case load.
