Green Jobs will fuel the economy, per Pelosi/Hussein

Lights out for several solar companies:

Solar company Solyndra to close factory, cut jobs (Los Angeles)

November 3, 2010 - The company said Wednesday that it is shuttering one of its factories to save $60 million in capital expenditures, laying off 40 employees and letting the contracts for more than 100 temporary workers expire.

All this despite a $535-million federal loan guarantee, more than $1 billion in private equity funds and supportive visits from luminaries such as  Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger, Energy Secretary Steven Chu and President Barack Obama.

Solar company announces plant closing, layoffs (East Fishkill, NY)

Snip: December 22, 2010 - A solar technology company that has been aided by state "clean energy" grants has notified the state of an impending "plant closing" that will affect more than 100 workers in Dutchess County.

Evergreen Solar to close Devens Manufacturing Facility

Snip: January 11, 2011 - Solar manufacturers in China have received considerable government and financial support and, together with their low manufacturing costs, have become price leaders within the industry. While the United States and other western industrial economies are beneficiaries of rapidly declining installation costs of solar energy, we expect the United States will continue to be at a disadvantage from a manufacturing standpoint.”

Intel Solar Spinoff announces NY plant closing (Hopewell Junction, NY)

December 23, 2010 - A solar technology company spun off by Intel Corp. has announced it will close a manufacturing plant at its upstate New York headquarters and lay off more than 100 workers less than a year after the plant opened.

Galloway Township solar project won't see light of day

Snip: January 10, 2011 - A solar project that would have brought millions of dollars into the township's coffers has been called off after an energy company was told the cost of connecting the project to the power grid has quadrupled.

Only took em three years to go broke and skedaddle;)

Ohio receiving $363 million in Obama stimulus money in first installment

Willard & Kelsey seeking $100 million in Federal Stimulus Money

Snip: Just like any company, if they have such a great product or have a strategic advantage over their competitors, because they can manufacture a similar product, at a significantly cheaper cost, then WHY should our Federal Government give them a handout ?

How are the windmills doing up in Minnesoooota, BTW?

I remember that story. The State purchased 11 wind turbines from California. The hydraulic fluid froze in the turbines. This was last February. I haven't heard how they got them running. I would like to get some information on the local one the put in Buffalo, MN near me. I wonder if it is producing the power they said it would.

Sun Sets on Solar company that got $58M, leaving Massachusetts

I doubt they were given 58 million dollars. They were probably given 58 million in tax breaks and credits over a certain time period. In other words they would have been allowed to keep 58m of their own money.

That's "giving" in liberal terminology. When liberals actually do hand redistribute someone else's money that's called "investing in the future" or some other rot.

By the way the 58 million credit still wasn't enough to compete with China (where the company says they will move some production to). Now what?
