Developing: Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords was shot along with three of her aides by a gunman Saturday morning outside a grocery store in Tucson while holding a public event, Fox News has confirmed. Twelve others were shot as well at Giffords' first public event called "Your Corner." The gunman is in custody. Giffords was taken to a hospital but the condition of those shot was not immediately known, a senior congressional aide told Fox News.

This is awful. I hope that she’s alright and that the reports that she was hit in the head are not true.
Fox has received an unconfirmed report that she gas died. God Bless her and her family.
Just a terrible tragedy. I pray for her family for comfort from God and for the others who were injured.
The loons at dailykos are blaming this on Sarah Palin’s election graphic that had surveying targets on it (they claimed they were sniper scopes). Also, the tea partiers. Palin needs to get smarter about her public appearances as I believe we are at the point where some crazy lib will retaliate. This is totally f-ed up.

Simply horrific. Murder is never the answer. To anything.
My guess is “false flag” incident. The Kenyan will probably put forth the notion that her seat should be filled by appointment. If Brewer takes the bait, it will be pretty much the end of the House of Representatives and we will officially be in the land of banana republic.
Of course, that’s a conspiracy theory, and we all know, no one in Obama’s administration would sacrifice a wobbly blue-dog for power. I mean, that’s kookery.
The only acceptable explanation is that this is a right-winger Tea Party Extremist.
If that’s the prevailing explanation, they will use it to crack down on gun rights.
Regardless of who did it, the government will use it to take power away from you and further tighten your shackles. You are their slave. They’re getting to the point where the trappings of freedom and democracy are becoming less and less useful.

First, what a terrible time for the Free Republic to be running slow. Second, why have we not heard from eye witnesses? Something is very strange about this incident.
Freepers were just writing about such an incident as this. We were speculating about when violence would come from the Left to set the crackdown on our freedoms in motion. Because the Free Republic is going so slow, I doubt I can recover that thread.

What makes me sick is that everything I've seen so far has involved putting blame on every conservative in the country, with nothing whatsoever being known about the depraved individual who did this awful thing.
This is a tragedy, not only for Congresswoman Giffords' family and friends and those of the other victims (and for the family of the shooter as well) but also for the people of Arizona.
My condolences to everyone involved, and may cooler heads prevail.
Prayers for the family of all who are effected by this tragedy.
Sadly, the left will try to make this Obama’s Oklahoma moment to paint the right as extremists. We cannot allow them to do what they did in the “90”s when they resurrected Clinton from the abys.
