Of all the claims deployed in favor of ObamaCare, and there are many, the most preposterous is that a new open-ended entitlement will somehow reduce the budget deficit. Insure 32 million more people, and save money too! The even more remarkable spectacle is that Washington seems to be taking this claim seriously in advance of the House's repeal vote next week. Some things in politics you just can't make up.

The accounting gimmicks are legion, but we'll pick out a few: It uses 10 years of taxes to fund six years of subsidies. Social Security and Medicare revenues are double-counted to the tune of $398 billion. A new program funding long-term care frontloads taxes but backloads spending, gradually going broke by design. The law pretends that Congress will spend less on Medicare than it really will, in particular through an automatic 25% cut to physician payments that Democrats have already voted not to allow for this year.

On the upside it also means they think we're stupid enough to believe it too. You go down harder when you don't see it coming.

Its a parody of an entitlement program... at least there is a justifiable reason for Social Security - its a forced retirement contribution program.
But Obamacare doesn’t have a reason for existing that people can think of. I can’t name what it does. Can you?

Ummm, I don't think so. If I were to rob 10 people at gun point of $1,000 saying I'll return the money in years to come, and then turn around and give you and 4 other people $200 each of that $1,000 ... would you think it was fair and justifiable? That is exactly what Social Security is.
There is nothing so dangerous as a plausible but fundamentally flawed theory - Socialism is a good example.
Poorly written article. It start off well, then mires in the middle. The ending should be in the beginning.
Every American should understand the simple facts in this article.
1. Obamacare will raise taxes not lower them.
2. Obamacare will raise the deficit not lower it.
3. Obamacare will not provide health care to everyone.
4. Obamacare will reduce the quality of health care in this country.
5. Obamacare is socialized medicine.
Is that the billions that they will not get in taxes? Of course they ignore the trillions actually saved by not being thrown into that bureaucratic hole of obamacare.
Of course tax payers will then have to pick up the tab.
Those who believe in throwing good money after bad will never engage the concept of cutting your losses and regrouping. Some think they really don't understand, but the reality is they don't care - their agenda to become absolute rulers drives everything they do.
