A 50-year-old illegal alien from Mexico caught with an altered Social Security card got no "Welcome to the USA" greeting from a Lebanon County judge on Wednesday. "Go back to where you're from," Judge Bradford H. Charles told Maximo Saldana-Contreras before sentencing him.

Saldana-Contreras, no known address, was sentenced to the three months he already served to 18 months in county prison and fined $100 for tampering with a public document. Saldana-Contreras altered a Social Security card to make it appear it belonged to him.

He pleaded guilty to the charge on Nov. 24.

State police stopped Saldana-Contreras on Interstate 81 at mile marker 84.8 in East Hanover Township on Sept. 3 for an expired registration sticker on the license plate of his car. They discovered that he was not a U.S. citizen and was in the country illegally.

Police found the altered Social Security card after Saldana-Contreras was taken to the state police barracks in Union Township. He told police that he bought the card in Puerto Rico for $150.

He will return to Mexico for a few weeks. Spend time with family and friends and make a return trip within a few weeks to America, with new documents.

It is sad to me that such a judgement is "newsworthy".
Kudos to Judge Charles, just the same.

stopped Saldana-Contreras ... for an expired registration sticker on the license plate of his car.

Obvious racism. Sotomayor would throw this out of court.

Put some of these one-man crime waves in jail for 20 years, and you’d see a change in the situation.

Oh, wait. Prison in the U.S. is better than the crap-hole countries these people come from. Oh, well.

East Hanover Township, PA. WOW!!! Pennsylvania is becoming more of a Conservative Red State with each passing week, it seems.

We have to stop that revolving door those hypocritical Mexican’s had no problem putting a wall on their own Southern Border we need one with Soldiers that are allowed to shoot on ours.

Mexico claims the guns in their country come from the US and that’s not even accurate but if they are so concerned a wall would do a lot to stem that now wouldn’t it.

Then we could start deporting all the rest of the illegal alien financial terrorists. We most certainly could do it and should do it our politicians are liar’s in that regard and it’s sickening whether they want them for votes or so some creep can line his pockets by paying them less (while taxpayers pick up the real expenses) it has to stop. They are supposed to be representing us not the illegal aliens and the corrupt Mexican government that uses the US for a dumping ground.

And pay $15,000-$30,000 year per inmate, which solves to $300,000 to $600,000? No way. Better to deport and only have to bear the transport costs.

Deportation, not imprisonment, is the most cost effective way to deal with illegal immigrants who have not committed OTHER crimes.

Don't they just turn around and come right back in a few weeks? Or a few days?

Transport cost would be what, 200 bucks one way?

If it’s costing 30k per inmate, you’ll be paying nearly a hundred bucks a day to house them.

So, worst case scenario, they come back in a few weeks. Provided transfer costs are less than 1.5k, you’re ahead of the game.

I think you’re right, which is why we need to punish those who employ illegal immigrants in order to cut off the “funding” for illegals. Illegals don’t care if they have a “record” here and jail is better than Mexico. Employers do care about criminal prosecution.
