Collins, Lieberman prove formidable team (RINO ALERT)
The Washington Times ^ | 2010-12-21 | Seth McLaughlin

The repeal of the military's "don't ask, don't tell" policy owes much to Sens. Susan Collins and Joseph I. Lieberman, who kept the issue alive when it appeared dead in the kind of partnership that is likely to become a model for getting things done in next year's divided Congress.

Mr. Lieberman, a Democrat-turned-independent from Connecticut, and Miss Collins, a Republican from Maine, plan to join President Obama at the White House on Wednesday when he signs the bill into law. The signing ceremony caps off a late-season effort that saw the military's ban on openly gay men and women serving in the ranks sink on two attempts as part of the annual defense policy bill, before finally passing as a stand-alone bill in the dying days of the lame-duck session.

Saturday's 65-31 repeal vote came after the two senators, in the span of 10 days, convinced lawmakers that now was the time to scrap the 17-year-old policy and persuaded Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, to carve out floor time for one more try before the clock ran out.

"It wouldn't have happened without them," said Fred Sainz, a vice president at the Human Rights Campaign, a gay-rights group. "They had the courage and tenacity to introduce a stand-alone bill and then expertly managed it to conclusion. They deserve the credit."

I hope the people in the districts they come from remember when they come up for re-election. Time and time again the majority of this country does not want this gay agenda. Time and time again they force it upon us.

This is one of those media puff pieces targetting other legislators with the goal of making them lose THEIR spines too.

“Hey... If I betray my base, reaching across the isle, they’ll be writing articles like that about me!”

I wonder what happened to all the freepers who gloated about sending Al Gore’s running mate money for his U.S. Senate re-election?

“Time and time again they force it upon us.”

There should be some means to reverse legislation that is clearly opposed by the majority of the voters.

Perhaps a vote of the people on such legislation to be taken within 30 days of the passage of the signature of the president and should it show a majority oppose, the legislation is repealed!

Doing this would tend to keep politicians from proposing it in the first place.

I just don't understand why this issue was so important to these people. Is it a matter of pursuing the European model? Are they so blind they cannot see the damage this will cause to the effectiveness of combat forces? Are they so blind they cannot see this is a stepping stone for the militant homosexual movement? What am I missing??

<<<<<<<<”It wouldn’t have happened without them,” said Fred Sainz, a vice president at the Human Rights Campaign, a gay-rights group.>>>>>>

“Gay-rights group.” It sounds so innocent, doesn’t it?

But what these radical groups really want to do is take rights away from Christians. They want to take away our rights to hire people of our choosing, do business with people of our choice, educate our kids as we wish, worship as we choose, participate in Boys Scouts as we choose. The radical homosexual agenda affects just about every square inch of our lives.

How about a “Christian rights” group?

Their bad influence will be somewhat diminished come January, and non existent after two more years. Meanwhile, Joe will continue being a Democrap, and Susan will continue rolling over to please every leftnut that comes along.

There is nothing formidable about these two. They are both cowards, traitors and weak to their own country and people.

The only difference between those 2 feckless Lieberals is old Joe gets a Y chromosome. If the Pilgrims could be reincarnated they would cringe at who/what represents New England in DC.

The worst thing that could happen is for Joe Lieberman to be elected as a Republican. If it doesn't benefit Israel, Joe is a staunch liberal.

Hopefully, we can elect enough conservatives to the Senate in 2012 that RINOs won't matter any more and that Snowe and Lugar will be replaced, even if it is by Democrats.

“How about a “Christian rights” group?”

Christians don't count any more. Iraqi Catholics canceling Christmas celebrations because they fear for their lives isn't nearly as important as some Muslim or gay who perceives he/she has been slighted.

You’re not missing anything. Except some insight into the fagot mentality:

Is it a matter of pursuing the European model? YES!

Are they so blind they cannot see the damage this will cause to the effectiveness of combat forces? NO!

Are they so blind they cannot see this is a stepping stone for the militant homosexual movement? NO

The queers have wanted for years to disrupt the military.

The “homosexual movement” is already militant.

This will not have a good ending.
