Madison Co. to evict man from camper

MADISON COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) - 72-year-old Dick Thompson isn't sure if he wants to fight or give up.

"I want to get the hell out of here right now — too much hate," Thompson says one minute.

"I think it's a bunch of bull," he says another, vowing to stay.

Thompson faces eviction from his 38 acres in Madison County. The county lawyer tells 24-Hour News 8 it's because Thompson is breaking too many rules, laws and ordinances; Thompson has no water, no sewer and no electricity in his recreational trailer that he calls home.

"I'm a country boy," explains Thompson. "I just want to be left alone."

Thompson is mighty fine, thank you very much — along with his dog, Ace, his horse, Fritz, his bird, Sunshine, and many more.

The eviction papers state go-time is “Nov. 30 at noon,”' though no one came — not yet.

This Indiana man seems to have violated county ordinances by living "off the grid" and now faces eviction.

Unless he is creating a health hazard to others, leave him the hell alone.

On 38 acres I doubt he is bothering anyone.

Another good reminder to ask ourselves, "Just how free are you in America today?" The answer is very discouraging.

Also a good time to ask whether you truly own anything when the government can dictate how or even if you can live on your "own" land. Try not paying "property taxes" (fees) on that land and see just how long you get to keep it. America is in a sad state :-(

Kinda gross. No water. I would not want to go near the place. But if that is how he wants to live, let him.

It looks like he even has a recycling bin. He does not use it clearly, but he still has one. Cleaning up the place might get them off his back.

He could come to Tennessee.

One of our County Commissioners got on the radio last year telling people to call and tell the Commission to vote no on complying with the State’s building permit ordinance.

He said “that means if you want to build an outhouse you would have to get a permit!”

Things are a bit behind times here and I love it!

Yeah, there’s something else there. I wonder if he’s a hoarder and his land is full of junk...and rats.
