Can you explain why this is a good thing? I don’t really want Comcast and AT&T deciding what sites I can visit or what I can download. Isn’t net neutrality what we have now?

To say that ‘net neutrality’ is a good thing is to postulate that government wants more free speech and that free enterprise is trying to squelch speech.

All of recorded history does not support that postulate

Do they do that now? In my world I don't see a problem that these liberals need to butt into. But I am open on this issue if others can point out specific problems that we need the FCC to "fix".

I think it is at least from my experience. However the term "net neutrality" means different things to different people. I guess we would have to read the whole thing and analyze to see exactly what this means.

But the fact Obama is for it and Boehner is against it tells me a lot right there. Also - it was a 3-2 vote in the FCC right down party lines. In fact I can't think of one issue that Obama was for and Republicans were generally united against where I took Obama's side.

Some recent ISP violations of the principle aside, net neutrality is what we have now. It's all basically been "how the Internet has always been" so far with a gentleman's agreement, but the ISPs have shown they don't want to act gentlemanly anymore. For me, the question is how to maintain it with the ISPs desiring to destroy it. I don't believe that the market can solve this with the powerful monopolies and duopolies the ISPs often have. On the other hand, I don't trust the FCC either. It's tough.
