A Gay Commander in Chief: Ready or Not?
The New York Times ^ | 18 Dec 2010 | MAUREEN DOWD

Posted on 12/19/2010 9:15:21 AM PST by mandaladon

Jimmy Carter is putting the out in outspokenness.

In an interview with bigthink.com, the former president was asked, “Is the country ready for a gay president?”

Even as John McCain and other ossified Republicans were staging last-minute maneuvers to torpedo the “don’t ask, don’t tell” repeal, the 86-year-old Carter was envisioning a grander civil rights victory.

“I would say that the answer is yes,” he said. “I don’t know about the next election, but I think in the near future.”

The news that Leonardo DiCaprio and Armie Hammer will smooch in an upcoming movie about J. Edgar Hoover and his aide Clyde Tolson — buried near each other in the Congressional Cemetery on Capitol Hill — is a reminder of an “Advise and Consent” Washington where being a closeted gay official made you vulnerable to blackmail.

Others feel we’re not ready for a gay president, citing the fear and loathing unleashed by the election of the first black president. “Can you imagine how much a gay president would have to overcompensate to please the macho ninnies who control our national debate?” Bill Maher told me. “Women like Hillary have to do it, Obama had to do it because he’s black and liberal, but a gay president? He’d have to nuke something the first week.”

I called Barney Frank, assuming the gay pioneer would be optimistic. He wasn’t. “It’s one thing to have a gay person in the abstract,” he said. “It’s another to see that person as part of a living, breathing couple. How would a gay presidential candidate have a celebratory kiss with his partner after winning the New Hampshire primary? The sight of two women kissing has not been as distressful to people as the sight of two men kissing.”

We are going down the sewer fast, just like the Romans. Soon we'll have another Caligula in the White House. Bestiality, pedophilia,S&M everything goes.

“I don’t know about the next election, but I think in the near future.”

How about that last election?

Q: What do Lincoln and Obama have in common?

A: They both have a beard...

I think there was already a gay president. O’Reilly and Hoover were talking about it the other night. Can’t remember his name, but I’m sure he didn’t admit he was gay until his presidency ended.

As for having an openly gay man run for president.....wouldn’t happen, country is still overwhelmingly conservative.

What’s sad and pathetic is how the homosexuals don’t realize that they are only “useful idiots” for people with a much larger agenda - eliminating the US and the only light of freedom and liberty which is unfortunately fading rapidly. No one cares about their “civil rights” or any of that other twaddle they pump out as they cynically manipulate the poor fools for their own purposes.

OK.

Bill Clinton was our first ‘black’ President.
Barack Obama was our first ‘female’ President.

So... who would be our first ‘gay’ President?

Arnold Schwarzenegger?
Al Franken?

Just when I think the stories are beyond revolting, the Old Grey Gay Lady finds all the sleeze unfit for print.

Republicans only tolerate you being gay as long as you don’t seem proud of it. You’ve got to be apologetic.” What’s there to be proud of...these morons are always touting their pride as if they were special. Say you are a proud white, heterosexual, male and you’d be labeled a homophobe.

This is a non story, and reflects the ignorance of Carter and the Times.

We have already had a gay President. I guess we were ready back in 1857, when James Buchanan moved into the Whitehouse.

We are destroying the Bible and the Christian paradigm in the US just like they did in pagan Europe.

When you glorify the devil, all morality will disappear. It is Christian morality (and Jewish) which made homosexuality a sin. Prior to that it was glorified and pederasty and seducing boys into the lifestyle was necessary and women were second class citizens. Physical beauty was the highest “virtue”.

If you don’t allow sexual morality, you get every sort of deviancy. That is what Marx wants....a chaotic, irrational society with no morality so all future children can be corrupted into the sins of the flesh with a devotion to the utopia on earth and no hope or judgement by a God.

Ugly, boring, uncreative society. Nietzsche saw this ugliness in Europe in the 19th century when he passionately said, “God is dead!” He saw the future world of Stalin’s, Hitler’s, and Mao’s. Sickening what is happening to logic and reason and the erasing of all our history by the adoption of the irrational post-modern German philosophy.

it's a good thing there's no tax on stupidity, or crap like this would never enter the social dialogue.
