Dream, DADT, START — STOP!

Leadership: Any time you kill a bloated, $1.27 trillion spending bill that includes more than 6,000 earmarks worth $8 billion, it's a good day's work. But as far as this lame-duck Congress is concerned, the work isn't done.

As we said in this space Friday, it would be best for Congress to extend the Bush tax cuts and then bring this lame-duck session to a quick end. We still feel that way now that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, facing a revolt even within his own party, has dropped the Democrats' big-spending omnibus budget bill.

Despite that defeat, as well as their futile fight against extending the Bush tax cuts for everyone, Reid and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still want Congress' lame ducks to pass a raft of new legislation as early as this weekend. These bills, passed in haste, would have far-reaching implications for the United States at a time when Americans have clearly said they want a new direction.

As this is written, Reid and his congressional allies are trying to force votes on the Dream Act; the New START treaty; "don't ask, don't tell"; and a massive environmental bill — all in the final days of the year if not this very weekend before Christmas.

As they did with the health care takeover, Democrats hope to jam these mostly unread bills through a distracted Congress over the holiday, with little if any input from the opposition.

On Friday, Reid filed for cloture on the Dream Act, which would end all further debate on a measure that legalizes millions of illegal alien youths and lets them file immediately for welfare and education benefits at a taxpayer cost of tens of billions of dollars.

He has also given the green light to a stand-alone vote to repeal "don't ask,

Friday, while calling Senators to ask them to vote no on the Nightmare Act, I thought of how we all banded together to stop the Comprehensive Immigration bill. Just think how much money preventing that amnesty bill saved the taxpayers. All those illegals leaving due to low employment would be drawing every government dollar they could.

And Smokin’ Joe Bite Me said “Don’t tell me about Christmas.”
Well I sent him a message reminding him of what our american Congress has divorced itself from since about the time he was a college boy at Syracuse.I wish we had enough Senators who remembered the original idea was they are supposed to be serving the greater good— and not serving special interests.
If The Senators would JUST SAY NO to dingy Harry Reid that black JACK Mormon and cook his lameduckery with righteous fire then feed to him one crispy piece at a time What a cause for Christmas bells that would be.

The Senators’ phone lines are inundated; I’m confident that these are calls to oppose all the desperate legislation being shoved in at the last minute. I encourage everyone to join the barrage.

In any other situation, an employee who has been fired is not allowed back on the premises. With congress, they are not only allowed back to their jobs, they are allowed to set policy. Insane.

The 4 horsemen of the Obama apocalypse:

1. Higher taxes (headed off by compromise bill)
2. Massive spending (done in stimulus, but FY2011 spending bill headed off this week)
3. Obamacare (passed in March 2010 but now we have a chance to roll it back in new Congress)
4. Amnesty (DREAM Act is the down payment, TBD, likely to fail)

Obama has gotten 2 and 3.
WE can unroll 2 and 3 in the upcoming Congress.

Overall, we did well, with a nov 2nd result that has ended an 2 year run of liberalism run amok.
