Guantanamo files may star in next WikiLeaks release

WikiLeaks' next assault on Washington may highlight U.S. government reports on suspected militants held at Guantanamo Bay, which some U.S. officials worry could show certain detainees were freed despite intelligence assessments they were still dangerous.

The leaks could be an embarrassment to President Barack Obama's administration, already angered over WikiLeaks document dumps of U.S. State Department cables, as it seeks to fulfil a 2-year-old pledge to close the prison and either release the foreign terrorism suspects or move them elsewhere.

I’m not a fan of releasing any classified material but I dont’ think this is going to bring down the Republic.

Perhaps I’m showing a lack of imagination, but I can’t see Gitmo files really causing anything other than embarrassment (sp?).

Am I missing something?

You mean PFC Bradley Manning and Mr. Julian Assange won’t be sharing a villa and interior decorating business on Barbados or some such?

Manning was a Pfc and needed someone above him to provide such wide ranging access to classified files. There is an element in the military that absolutely hates America and is doing its’ best to harm the country.

We need another Joe McCarthy to ferret out these communists!

Yeah, let's be sure to put out documents covering the struggle to deal with overweight detainees getting fat on three halal squares a day - while political prisoners in Castro's jails are losing teeth because of malnutrion.

Only liberal idiots can rail against Gitmo while ignoring the far worse prisons elsewhere on that island.

Or, more clearly, an embarrassment to an embarrassment.
