ROY -- A plane has crashed into a Roy neighborhood Sunday night.
Authorities confirmed three homes in the area of 2000 West and 4300 South were on fire. Fire officials say those fires have now been contained.
Gary Cox helped pull the pilot from the plane. He says the pilot was confused and badly burned but was able to answer questions.
"Pretty banged up, burnt on his hands and face, but he was actually coherent and remembered what his name was and what he was doing," Cox said.
The pilot was able to confirm he was the only person in the plane at the time of the crash. He was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. His condition is unknown at this time.
Cox says there was "nothing left" of the plane, but that parts were scattered across the road.
The crash site is just southwest of the Ogden-Hinckley Airport. Fire crews are evacuating residents to an LDS Church meetinghouse at 4200 S. 2175 West.
Residents are reporting widespread power outages in the neighborhood. As of 8 p.m., Rocky Mountain Power reported 770 homes without power.
It's unclear at this time if there are any fatalities.
Police are asking residents to stay away from the crash site, which has been congested with people and cars. Emergency crews are having a difficult time getting in and out of the area.
They are advising those who have been evacuated to make their way to the shelter as quickly as possible.

Tragic, but what a strange name for a neighborhood; “Roy.”
I don’t know that right before Christmas is any worse time for losing one’s home and belongings, but it always seems so to me. I hope the pilot recovers soon but it sounds like he has some pretty nasty burns.
Here’s some info on that plane crash you’d mentioned earlier.
We have a town named "Roy" here in WA state. (And another named "George.")
OK. I feel sheepish now.
LOL, why?
Report in Please!
He’s that close???
I’ll call him. BRB
He’s fine....and he’s getting online....
He calls me every time I slam a door and he wants to know if it’s a earthquake...
About 40 miles north of here. Apparently single engine.
And the Steelers were given one tonight....

Not as odd as “ogden”
This happened at the time that I was out to dinner. This crash was two blocks away from a fire station, so they got there quick. I drove past just as 3 ambulances were pulling up. I saw the power out in the area but I figured that a car crash caused it.
My house and about two dozen other around me were the only homes in the area that still had power, I won the lottery on that one.
The pilot was attempting to land at Hinckley Airport. It was pea soup fog, so the result here is obvious. It’s been very foggy for a few days straight here, did this pilot even attempt to look at the weather conditions at his destination? This flight never should’ve happened.
