Intolerance And The Law In Oklahoma (New York Times Masthead Editorial Islamo-Pandering Alert)
New York Times ^ | 11/28/2010 | New York Times

But more than 70 percent of voters in Oklahoma still approved a state constitutional amendment to that effect, apparently persuaded by anti-Islamic activists, and a few cynical politicians, that Oklahoma was about to be brought under Islam’s heel.

After Muslim groups challenged the constitutionality of the “Save Our State Amendment,” a federal district judge issued a temporary restraining order. Last Monday, the judge, Vicki Miles-LaGrange, held a hearing to determine whether to issue a preliminary injunction against the measure, and said she would make a decision by the end of November. A federal injunction is warranted to save Oklahoma from its pernicious folly and to prevent other states from following the same path.

Islam-bashing for political gain was a chilling feature of this year’s campaign. The proposed Islamic center and mosque in downtown Manhattan was publicly announced last year, but no one paid much attention until activists began loudly denouncing it in the middle of the midterm election campaign. Right-wing groups then made commercials attacking several Democratic candidates for respecting the First Amendment and saying they had no problems with the project.

The New York liberals in their infinite wisdom, now say its unconstitutional for Oklahomans to prohibit their state courts from considering sharia in judicial decisions. Folks, we have Islamo-pandering here. Its one thing if you can't read the Bible in the schools but heaven forbid if the voters decide they don't want sharia imposed in this country. Then they are bigots and are misled by demagogues. The New York Times editors have a decidedly selective understanding of what separation of religion and state means.

You know them Okies, Bible-thumping, beer-swilling, gun-toting bitter clinger muzzie-hating rednecks. That’s how they look at the state from their Manhattan offices.

Wider and wider the void between America and the liberal states stretches. Soon it will snap.

Obviously, federal judges should be allowed to rule our lives and make all the important decisions ... lest “bigotry” of the natives gets out of control.

Yup. If Oklahomans actually have state sovereignty, there’s no telling where such a “dangerous” idea will stop. So liberals turn to the courts to make sure the people aren’t really in charge of this country.

Liberals should know gays, feminists, and especially Jews will be the first groups sent to concentration camps if Muslims take over in Europe or here.

Yet they hate conservatives in the US so much they support the very people out to kill them.

Public hangings of gays in Iran. Where are re protesting gays outside embassies?

absolutely true words....I think the liberals believe that the Muslims love them for their kind words!

Yeah, right. Useful idiots, I think is what they would be called.

When the New York Times takes a stand on an issue, you can’t go wrong disagreeing with them.

Their editorial staff hates America and western civilization.

The judge’s actions are the best evidence that the ballot measure was necessary.

How do people seperate from the body of Sharia which is a sociatal/government formulary one part which claims to be soley a religion?? I don’t think they do this. They might place the religion above all other aspects of Sharia but the rest still remains to be used when desirable.

With all the problems being caused in Europe by resident Muslims, Oklahoma is just being proactive. In typical partisan language the Times blames Republicans for any anti-Islam sentiment. How about arsonists in Leftist Oregon setting fire to the mosque of a local terrorist?

Trying to protect Sharia law under the Constitution is counter intuitive because Sharia law deprives it's subjects of Constitutional rights.

The worlds most intolerant religious fraud (ISLAM) calling OK
Constitutional law intolerant —HOO —Hoo. I predict until we get more— and more like the Europe—i.e. the people taking the law into their own hands and responding to terrorism in
their midst -like someone did in Oregon with the Mosque burning—I predict the American government will continue to write laws governing everybody but the exempted government
just like their mentors in Europe have done for decades.
Even a popular uprising seems doomed at this time.I wonder if there are ten righteous men to found in all of our system.

This court ruling is in English, so it is invalid. Everyone knows that Sharia, and the rest of the Koran, is written in Arabic - and must be read in that language. </sarcasm>

Intolerance??? I proudly stand up and say I am intolerant of any legal structure that doesn’t adhere to the U.S. Constitution.

Damn right, intolerant!
