Even though it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation, Sarah is better off letting them know that she WILL respond and that they will NOT be allowed to take pot shots at her indiscriminately without them being answered.

I don't think her response (if you read the whole thing in context) sounded thin skinned. It just sounded honest. She said "with all due respect" and that she really likes the Bushes. I think one of the problems too many conservatives have is they always bend over and grab the ankles when being unfairly criticized. Well she doesn't do that and God bless her for that!
Yup. She should emulate GW during his Presidency on this and not give stature to political attackers by responding. You know, stay above it all.

I disagree, She is correct, the blue bloods are trying to pick the next blue blood, in this case the bushes are back romney. She doesn’t look thin skinned, she looks like she’s tough, and unafraid to take on the blue bloods. Of course you don’t support her, so you see it in a different light. I am loving a political figure that tells you exactly what they think. I hope I get to vote for here but I strongly suspect, the blue bloods want Romney, we’ll get Romney...

Really, I hope you are not one of those that said Bush should have answered his critics rather remain quiet about them. She has every right to respond. However, I would have responded with a question. “Why should I stay in Alaska Babs?”

I am so OVER the “dynasty” politicians. W 2000-2004 was a good president. 2004-2008 I don't know who that guy was. Now, he is even more irrelevant. His mother is CERTAINLY irrelevant. All the Bush's need to STFU and Sarah should defend herself each and every time she is attacked.

Palin has already shown herself as being prone to snipping back at people about things they've said.
With this one, she's shifted the argument away from anything substantive, to inviting folks to take sides about the relative merits of Palin and the Bush family.
That will play well to the rather small "conservative populist" niche. But most folks outside that niche are not particularly interested in seeing Palin express her irritation yet again.
Most don't care at all. Many will see this as petty school-girl stuff. And others will side with Barbara Bush, because they've always liked her.
And from the political strategy standpoint, it's just stupid.
Sarah Palin's biggest problem right now is to overcome the perception among the general public, that she's an intellectual lightweight.
She needs to be concentrating on showing people that she understands and can deal with big stuff.
To instead draw attention to her petty squabbles, is not helping her.
You can bet the Democrats are taking notes.... and they already know that she can be forced to quit.
Barb Bush is anti Palin because Sara is pro- life and Bab’s is pro-abortion. I wish Palin would’ve mentioned their disagreement as the reason for Barbara Bush’s hateful comment.

Disagree. She was respectful but absolutely correct in her comments. Where have the best and brightest blue bloods taken us to? A society where we charge our wants and expect our unborn progeny to foot the bill. A society where the overwhelming majorities of children in urban America areborn out of wedlock and join their Moms on the welfare roles. A society where only 5% of us ever serve in the military. A society that now has more people in the wagon than pulling it.
Geroge W Bush's greates failure was in not responding to lies and nasty commentary about him. His Mom got nasty in the political arena and Palin answered back firmly but respectfully. Perhaps there is a lesson there.
She was asked a direct question and gave an excellent response. You should read it if you haven't. She made a good point while defusing the remark.
