Because conservatives pay their dues at time and don’t have to look for excuses and make themselves victims when things crash down. That’s what “being captain of his own ship” means.
Still, there are not many smiles to be seen in the politically powerful town of peace, love and diversity.
They invented gay pride parades, where they celebrate sodomy and complaining about the insufficiency of Federal AIDS funding.

So true. The WHIIIIIIning that liberals do is unbelievable. I can tell which of my FB “friends” is liberal and which conservative by the whine level in their postings. Among coworkers and neighbors, too. Whining has a strong positive correlation with liberalism.
The problem with this is that there are PLENTY of really unhappy people growing up, and plenty who are being taught the leftist worldview.
A leftist is unhappy because life is never as good as you want it to be. A conservative accepts life is imperfect, the world is not going to change as much we would like it to and one has to be happy because in spite of those things, life is good.
