“Dick’s website will display the Christmas message in time for Thanksgiving.”

Why not display the Thanksgiving message for Thanksgiving?

“Always a good idea to check for their “Black Friday” ammo sales!!

Buy it by the case on the internet.”

Best Yet, buy it at your local gun show - and pay cash.

I’d love to go to a Cabella’s, but none locally. And Gallyan’s was bought out by Dick, and I’ve been there (Dick’s) once, but won’t go back. I used to love Gallyan’s, spent a lot of money there.

Fortunately, Gander Mountain opened a store near Dick, and they have a way better firearms section.

There’s a Gander Mountain in my town and I rarely shop there. I mainly shop online from Cabela’s and Sportsman’s Guide.

That store has only been here since May, 2010 and is located between an home improvement store and a large outdoor store so they have opted to fill the name brand outdoor leisure clothing niche. Really good customer service(they even had a electric scooter that my wife took advantage of for an hour). The prices at Dicks were not a bargain, but, my wife did find the “cutest little boots” for herself. I preferred the outdoor store (Fishermans Marina) much more(wonderful selection of topo maps) because as a rule I hate clothes shopping.

Well of course, you can’t beat a Cabella’s. I might drive to Dayton, or is it Columbus, and vista their store there. Saw it from I-70 on the way to DC last August, it’s huge.

If you’re ever up in Portland Maine, stop by the L.L. Bean factory store. They have a huge firearms section. I had no idea they sold guns.

Are these reviews off, or is the store all that bad?

I've only had good experiences. I don't like to shop, but the clerks always seem to go that extra mile.

I went into Dicks to get some running shoes last Christmas. I have small feet they seemed to be out of my size - not unusual.

A clerk overheard the clerk who was helping me and asked me to wait. Within five minutes or so, he came running back, with the shoes in my size. They'd been somewhere else in the store as part of a display.

The above stood out a bit, but they've always been really helpful. When I went in to get the new BPA-free water bottles, I was trying to find them in different colors (everyone has a color in our house) and the clerk went in the back & got exactly what I wanted. He could have done nothing, or said that what was out was what they had, but he didn't. That counts in my book.

The only thing I wish they'd do is carry firearms. They took over another chain here that did, and while they still carry ammo, they do not carry firearms. I find that disappointing.

“Heard an advertisement today referring to today as the “First day of Black Friday Week”.”

We can’t remember Holy Week but now we have Black Friday Week.

I live in IL bro and I love DSG probably the best sporting goods store out there. Never had a problem with their stuff or service if you can check it out give it a shot.

THanks to all for the feedback.

I think there must be a state law here in Alaska that discourages chains stores from coming up.
