Black Republican: Black Caucus preaches victimization and dependency By Gautham Nagesh - 11/20/10 05:23 PM ET

Congressman-elect Allen West (R-Fla.), who said he plans to become the only black Republican in the Congressional Black Caucus, accused the organization of failing the black community by promoting dependence on government welfare programs.

"The Congressional Black Caucus cannot continue to be a monolithic voice that promotes these liberal social welfare policies and programs that are failing in the Black community, that are preaching victimization and dependency, that's not the way that we should go," West said on Fox News Friday. "And those are not the types of principles that my mother and father raised me with in the inner city of Atlanta, Georgia."

West is one of two black Republicans elected to Congress during the mid-term; Tim Scott (R-S.C.) declined to join the CBC after it said it would welcome both men. West said despite his criticisms, his deceased parents would be "absolutely appalled" if he chose not to join the caucus.

"I think it's important that we have varying perspectives and insights that can challenge in the Congressional Black Caucus, and I think it will make things better for the Black community as we go forth in the 21st century," he said.

West also accused Rep. John Lewis (D-Ga.) of playing the race card and employing double standards in his defense of Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.), who was convicted on ethics charges by a House panel this week. West said Lewis failed to come to his defense when he was the subject of racist attacks during his Congressional campaign.

"I think it shows this duplicitous standard, this hypocrisy where there are certain rules that apply to everyone else but those same rules don't apply to the left," West said.

I wish Representative West well in this challenge.... I pray for him to be successful in breaking down the walls of institutionalized bondage in the name of ‘race’. My God protect his back.

Since a Freeper brought Col West to my attention I have followed him more closely than my own district's candidates. I know, shame on me.
This is one heck of a good man. I hope he sticks a gun in somebodys mouth in that caucus.
I have been , making modest contributions to his campaign for what seems like a long time now. I want my 20, 50 , 75, 100 or more dollars worth.

I wish him well, but what Allen needs to understand is until he attacks and exposes the root cause: Educated black’s in power preach this dependency crap because it keeps them in power by providing billions of dollars to the poverty pimps in society. Welfare programs are worth billions to non profits, health care in inner city, food sold to public schools under the free breakfast/lunch programs. Think the local schools can survive without bilingual teachers paid for by the feds? They (local schools/teacher unions) will fight tooth and nail to continue to drain this country dry!

Again I wish him luck but these social science turds have had 60+ years sucking at the federal teat, and they will not be weaned off without a fight.

A man who says such things should not be in Congress.

He should be in the White House!

Oh, the blueprint for attacking black conservatives was written a long time ago. Justice Clarence Thomas was an early target of the left's attack on those blacks who they consider to be "Uncle Toms".

Rep. West will be fair game to black liberals because he's a "traitor to his race".

The problem with attacking West is that he is a genuine hero. He’s not going to knuckle under the pressure like so many others have. He’s the real deal.

This is one heck of a good man.>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

He is indeed:

Military career
West entered active duty service in the U.S. Army on November 1, 1983 at Fort Sill to attend the Field Artillery Officer Basic Course. He later attended airborne training at Fort Benning. West’s first assignment was as an airborne infantry company fire support team leader and battalion training officer in the 325th Airborne Battalion Combat Team. In 1987, he was promoted to Captain and attended the Field Artillery Officer Advanced Course.[citation needed]

He was then assigned to the 1st Infantry Division, where he commanded Bravo Battery, 6th Field Artillery Regiment and was a Battalion Task Force fire support officer for 2d Battalion, 16th Infantry Regiment. While with the 1st Infantry Division, he participated in Operations Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm.[citation needed]

After redeployment from Kuwait, West served as an ROTC instructor at Kansas State University from 1991 to 1994. In January 1995, he was assigned to the 2nd Infantry Division Support Command as the Assistant Operations/Combat Plans Officer. During that time, West was promoted to Major and selected for attendance to the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and graduated in 1997. Afterward, he became the Operations Officer of the 18th Field Artillery Brigade. That was followed by assignment as the Executive Officer of the 1st Battalion, 377th Field Artillery Regiment. Upon completion of these positions, West was assigned to the II Marine Expeditionary Force in Camp Lejeune, selected to serve as an Army exchange officer to this headquarters from 1999 to 2002.

West’s culminating assignment to his career was as Battalion Commander of the 2d Battalion 20th Field Artillery, 4th Infantry Division. He assumed command of this unit on June 6, 2002.[5]

[edit] Iraq interrogation incident and retirement
While serving in Taji, Iraq, on August 20, 2003, as commander of the 2d Battalion, 20th Field Artillery Regiment, Lieutenant Colonel West was in charge of an interrogation of a civilian Iraqi police officer who was suspected of having pertinent information regarding attacks on American soldiers in the area. Interrogators had learned that the detainee had information about a planned ambush. When the interrogators were unable to extract the needed important information for some time, LTC West was asked to come try to obtain the important information. As the detainee continued to hold back the information, LTC West fired his pistol past the detainee’s head into a clearing barrel, frightening (but not physically harming) the detainee and getting him to finally give the information. According to Lt. Col. West’s sworn statement,[6] the detainee informed West that:

“ [The attack] was to occur Friday morning in Saba al Boor vicinity of the police station by positioned snipers supposedly being brought in from Fallujah. [The detainee] was to ID my vehicle and myself for these rooftop firers. We took this information and the following day established flask CPs and used AH-64s overhead. There was no attack and no further attacks have emanated from the town since the apprehension of [the detainee] and his named associates. ”

At least one man was apprehended as a result of the information obtained through the detainee’s interrogation. His home was searched, but no plans for attacks on Americans or weapons were found. Colonel West testified that he did not know whether “any corroboration” of a plot was ever found, adding: “At the time I had to base my decision on the intelligence I received. It’s possible that I was wrong about [the detainee,] Mr. Hamoodi.”[7]

West, who at the time was just short of having 22 years of service, was charged with violating articles 128 (assault) and 134 (general article) of the Uniform Code of Military Justice. West was processed through an Article 32 hearing in November 2003, where he admitted wrongdoing, was fined $5,000 . He then submitted his retirement paperwork and was allowed to retire with full benefits in the summer of 2004.[8]

At a hearing, West was asked by his defense attorney if he would do it again. “If it’s about the lives of my men and their safety, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can,” he said.[8] Apparently not knowing West’s gun was aimed into a barrel, “Hamoodi cracked and gave information about the planned ambush on West’s convoy, thwarting the attack.” West said there were no further ambushes on U.S. forces in Taji until he was relieved of his leadership post on October 4.”[8] After West’s retirement was brought to public attention the next fall, he received over two thousand letters and e-mails from the American public offering him moral support. In addition, a letter in West’s support and signed by ninety-five members of Congress was drafted to the Secretary of the Army.[7]

West spoke in September 2010 in defense of a group of US military personnel convicted of war crimes known as the “Leavenworth 10.”[9]

The black congressional caucus is racist, just as a white congressional caucus would be. How many years do we have to put up with this baloney?
