The last guy Rubio should be taking advice from is Geraldo.

The fundamental flaw in Geraldo Rivera's argument is that a winning coalition is not fashioned by sitting down with your pollsters and slicing and dicing the demographics to squeeze a plurality or even a majority. That is not statesmanship that is racism in action.

Geraldo Rivera wants us to pander to Latinos because they have votes at the box and in asserting this fact he is indisputably correct. One can offer a maxim of American politics: if the Republicans take 40% of the Latino vote they cannot be beaten and if they take but 30% of the Latino vote, they cannot win. Nevertheless, the path favored by Geraldo Rivera is the path of ultimate destruction for a political party. A political party, contrary to the multi-century history of the Democrats, is not in business to pander to ethnic groups. A political party is in business to raise a Chevron which others, despite their ethnicity, race or faith, will follow because it is the better way.

Republicans have a choice; they can choose a righteous path and invite Latinos to come along. Ultimately, many will. Or they can follow the path of the Democrats and pander as Democrats have done to the African-American "community" with the result that they are sinking deeper and deeper into a vortex of self deception and lunacy. We are seeing the last and most ludicrous act being played out now in the ethics trial of Congressman Charlie Rangel.

There comes a time and place in politics when principle must predominate and the ballot box must take care of itself.

Incidentally, the numbers are not quite so clear as Geraldo Rivera makes out. For example, over 90% of Americans favor English as the official language, contrary to our author's backhand.

Indeed. A freind of mine is married to a woman who was born in Mexico. She busted her butt to become a citizen and is very much opposed to illegal immigration from any country. Also, to say that she is conservative would be an understatement.

RE: In other words; If we don’t cave into amnesty and open borders, we will never get the majority of the Hispanic vote.

Like it or not, Hispanics TEND TO VOTE DEMOCRAT.

It can be said that California retaining its Democratic hold and Harry Reid’s survival came as a result of HISPANICS voting en masse for them.

SEE HERE :

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/11/04/AR2010110405099.html

EXCERPT

Did Hispanics save the Senate for Democrats?

The question is being batted around as political analysts continue to crunch numbers after Tuesday’s election. The widespread thumping of Democrats on Election Day stalled in Nevada and California - states with sizable Hispanic populations.

According to exit polls, Hispanics turned out in strong numbers in those states and were more willing than usual to support Democrats.

In his Senate campaign against tea party candidate Sharron Angle, Majority Leader Harry Reid (D) won 68 percent of the Hispanic vote in Nevada - up from 60 percent in 2004. Sen. Barbara Boxer drew 65 percent of the California Hispanic vote for her win over Carly Fiorina.

Also in California, Gov.-elect Jerry Brown beat Republican Meg Whitman with the help of 64 percent of Hispanic voters.

Pollsters who interview voters in both English and Spanish measured even higher support for Reid, reporting that he won 90 percent of the Hispanic vote. Turnout among Hispanics was also up in Nevada, where Hispanic voters made up about 15 percent of the electorate. (Full turnout figures for that state are not yet available.)

The turnout numbers suggest that Hispanics were inspired by debate over immigration, said Matt A. Barreto, a professor of political science at the University of Washington. Angle’s campaign aired a series of ads attacking Reid on illegal immigration, drawing criticism from Hispanic civil rights groups. And Angle had a late campaign faux-pas while talking to Hispanic students at Rancho High School in Las Vegas, telling the students that some of them looked “more Asian” to her.

Jerry Rivers needs to go and bask in the warmth that is the Worker's Paradise in Venezuela or North Korea.

He could leave his millions here to help pay for the medical costs of victims of crimes committed by illegal aliens upon people that are here legally.

Bye bye Jerry! Enjoy your bowl of rice a day and your 16 egg ration per month. I hope the soldiers don't beat you to death when you try to exercise free speech.

The answer is:
On ‘At-Large’ this weekend, Al Sharpton, (a chronically under-rated civil rights leader and old friend),

How to blow your credibility in the opening sentence?

Did illegal Hispanics save the Senate for Democrats?

That's the real question—because you're just talking about Nevada and California. You have to ask why "Hispanics" didn't save the Democrats in New Mexico, Arizona, or Florida, none of which has a shortage of Hispanics. What those other places may have is a relative shortage of bribery, welfare, and election fraud.

Firstly, Fox Latino is a giant warning. It is full of liberal reporters and reporting. On to the garbage that Gerald Rivers spews today.

n ‘At-Large’ this weekend, Al Sharpton, (a chronically under-rated civil rights leader and old friend),
Pardon me? The Reverend Al Sharpton, the man behind the race-hustling National Action Alliance? The Al Sharpton who perpetrated the Tawana Brawly Hoax? The Al Sharpton who helped fan the flames of hatred during the Crown Heights Riots/pogrom? The Al Sharpton who led the protest at Freddy's Fashion Mart, leading to murder arson? There are two differences between David Duke and Al Sharpton. Sharpton is a commie minority and Sharpton actually has blood on his hands.

Gerald Rivers/Geraldo should be a pariah for his friendship with this man.

To generalize, Hispanic culture is reflexively conservative; with heavy emphasis on family, care of the elderly, church (right to life), country, hard work and just rewards. In the words of Ronald Reagan, “they are Republicans; they just don’t know it yet.”
What kind of racism is this? How do Puerto Rica, Cubans, Dominicans, Mexicans, Venezualans, Argenitinians... share culture? Are people from the Anglosphere interchangeable? In other words, if Senator Marco Rubio opts for the big tent politics of Karl Rove, George W. Bush (circa 2004), John McCain (circa 2006) and the late Jack Kemp, he could accelerate the process, expanding his party's majority on his way to the vice-presidency. Now that would be historic.
All lost the Hispanic vote. The GOP is the party of middle America and limited government. Democrats are the party of the alienated and those getting government benefits. New immigrants, except those fleeing communism, are natural fits for Democrats. You want to get the Hispanic Vote? Try the following. 1. Stop courting them as Hispanics, but as Americans.
2. End illegal immigration and reduce legal immigration to allow time for them to assimilate.
3. End government mandated multiculturalism in schools, which Balkanizes us.
4. Create assimilation and Americanization programs.
The pain we feel in the short term is nothing compared to what will happen if we do nothing. Imagine if we purued this policy in 1986 instead of Amnesty.

Jerkwater Rivers is now on his 5th (that’s right!) his 5th wife! Where else but the American left could you find 5 women so incredibly stupid! Unbelievable.

He is half Jewish (via mother) and only marries porcelain skinned white women. If he is so pro-Hispanic how come he never marries one? George Soros has his antiAmerican hobbies as he heads into senility and so does WhoreAldo
