The American Narcissus (cont.)Readers send in their favorites
The Weekly Standard ^ | 11/15/2010 | Jonathan Last

Posted on 11/15/2010 11:27:24 AM PST by mojito

A reader sends in a classic Obama moment that I completely missed. Here's Ryan Lizza in a 2004 profile of Obama for the Atlantic:

"I couldn't help noticing, when we sat down to talk in the dilapidated storefront that houses his Springfield campaign headquarters, that the blue-pen drawing he'd doodled on his newspaper during fundraising calls was a portrait of himself."

You may have your own favorite scenes from the American Narcissus. Feel free to send them along to jlast[at]weeklystandard.com. Submissions will be accepted without judgment. This is a safe place, a nest of trust in a tree of understanding.

TOPICS: Crime/Corruption; Extended News; Politics/Elections
KEYWORDS: egoism; narcissism; narcissist; obama; vanity
Creepy.

Readers send in their favorite moments showing the depths of Obama's self-infatuation, prompted by Last's recent article, "American Narcissus" in the most recent issue of the Weekly Standard.

There's a picture of him going to his car holding a magazine or book with HIS picture on it. He is making sure to prominently display it as he pimp-walks towards his pimp-mobile.

Narcissistic POS.

What’s his favorite subject? Hint: He’s written two books. Both autobiographies.

It's not his favorite subject, it's the only subject he knows. He gets brain-lock when he has to think on anything else. I'm beginning to think he is a certifiable narcissist.

Stunning even by Bambi standards. He is seriously nutz.

I sent in this one this morning and Jonathan thanked me.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/remarks-president-organizating-america-national-health-care-forum

all three goals that you have? THE PRESIDENT: Well, it's a great question, and this is an example of sort of a controversy that has been somewhat manufactured this week. So let me just be clear: I continue to support a public option, I think it is important, and I think it will help drive down costs and give consumers choices. The only thing that we have said -- and this continues to be the truth -- and I mean, sometimes you can fault me maybe for being honest to a fault -- is that the public option is just one component of a broader plan. So let's just talk -- let's just use the example of making sure that insurance companies are treating their customers right.
See, Obama admits to having a fault! I have the video of it, too.

Are you also “beginning to think” that maybe water is wet and fire is hot?

“We are the ones we’ve been waiting for.”

During my lifetime we have gone from a period when that kind of talk would get you branded as stark raving mad to a period when that kind of talk gets you the presidency. And I am only 66! What in the world will it be like in another twenty years?

Yeah, he admits to being too honest, he would probably also admit to being too handsome, too intelligent, too charming, etc. I suspect he would admit to quite a few “faults”. I am waiting to hear him admit to being a lying, gay, not natural born citizen, drug addled puppet installed by George Soros to destroy America.

Even more than creepy!

One has to wonder about the source of Obama's hubris. Either it is self-created (and that would mean good old-fashioned insanity). Or he truly does believe he is the Chosen One (the muslim and secular messiah). That's not a laughing matter.

During the campaign, it was commonly thought that an aide dreamed up all the messianic iconography...now we know differently. It's all Obama's idea.

He is certainly the most arrogant human to enter the world stage in the post modern era. We don't know yet if Obama is the AntiChrist, but Obama believes he is (believes he is the savior/messiah of the non-Judeo/Christian world).

This will not end well!

BTW, when I said he really does believe he is the Chosen One...I meant (and failed to say) that he has been informed of such by the god he serves, Lucifer.

That would explain his supernatural confidence in the face of all evidence to the contrary.

He is seriously nutz.

He is clearly nutz...but this article seems to point to something even more than just insanity.

Where Obama has collided with reality, there should appear cracks in his facade. Yet, there is no apparent recognition on his part that he is in the wrong.

It's not just that Obama believes he is at the top of the human hierarchy...it is becoming clear that he thinks he is, in some way, divine. And that is beyond insanity...

“This will not end well!”

My prediction has been from the very beginning that Obama will be forced to resign due to some earth shattering scandal of some kind. The kind of scandal that involves multiple felonies and lots of money. He believes that since he is a messianic figure, that he is above the law. Hence, he has been abusing power from the get go.

He might have gotten away with it in some third world hellhole like Kenya, but this is the USA. The American people are not going to put up with it much longer and the corrupt american press can’t protect him forever.

Obama’s chickens are coming home to roost.

That's true. It's a particularly unsettling aspect of his behavior.
