Tina Brown is expected to address her staff at The Daily Beast this morning about its merger with Newsweek, which was confirmed late Thursday....
...The merger follows a protracted search by Harman for a new editor-in-chief of Newsweek, which he officially purchased in early October for $1, while agreeing to take on the magazine's mountain of debt....
...Under the terms of the deal, Newsweek and The Daily Beast will become a 50-50 joint venture called The Newsweek Daily Beast Company, owned equally by Harman and IAC. The nuances of how the editorial operation will function are still unclear, but Brown will have the title of editor-in-chief for both publications.

TOPICS: Business/Economy; Culture/Society; Front Page News; News/Current Events
KEYWORDS: deckchairs; democrats; dnc; fraud; liberals; media; mediascum; mentalcollapse; mentaldisorder; msm; news; newsweak; newsweek; thedailybeast; tinabrown; titanic
When I saw the headline I thought this would be a parody article, but apparently Tina Brown is now Editor-in-Chief for Newsweak as well as The Daily Beast.
Good way to ensure the tabloidization of Newsweak, but since it's already been running on leftist fumes I'm sure the quality has nowhere to go but up.

Should they change the name?
How about “The Daily Week” or “News Beast”?

It’s still a joke publication, but now Newsweak will be in a position to rival the NY Times for cultural significance!

Can I assume that the merger has doubled Newsweek’s net value? You can now buy the entire company for two bucks, not one?

re: “BeastWeek”
then all they’ll need is an image of a snarling Nancy Pelosi on the masthead and they’ll at least DOUBLE their circulation

I believe there’s a misspelling in the headline.
Instead of “forces” it should read “farces”.

The nuances of how the editorial operation will function are still unclear Hey, conservatives still have a chance! If we each buy a copy...because if you don't buy a copy that's a vote for the liberals... Oh, never mind.

I would like reading Daily Beast if he was not so glaringly Left Wing.
Yesterday, some girl writer was claiming that Michelle’s fashion in this Asia trip was better than Jackie Kennedy’s Asian trip.
Today they are pondering how stupid Sarah Palin is, and how shallow and idiotic Bush’s biography is.

Wasn't "Newsweek Daily Beast Company" a character in the Book of Revelations?
If not, certainly a "daily weekly" is a sign of the Apocalypse.
