Wow. Newsweek, once I remember, quite some decades ago, was a reasonably respected magazine.
Now it is part of "The Daily Beast".
How things change.

The editorial staffs will combine under the editorship of Tina Brown, who will again run a high-profile glossy... ...straight into the ground.
But all her friends will continue to remark on her brilliance...

So, if you tie two sinking ships together, do they sink a little bit slower?

I presume that The Daily Beast took its name from Evelyn Waugh’s comic novel, “Scoop.” I suppose they consider it kind of an in joke. But I don’t think Waugh would be amused by this appropriation. It’s really not very funny.

Very, very interesting.
This morning I read with interest an article on Daily Beat about how Michelle Obama in India wore more fashionable clothes than Jackie Kennedy.

This reminds me of when Southern Airways merged with North Central Airlines to form Republic (remember them?) An aviation lawyer of my acquaintance said that thinking you could put those two airlines together and get a quality product ‘was like thinking you could put two hookers in a sack, shake ‘em up, and come out with the Virgin Mary.’

Guess Newsweak’s continued circulation losses didn’t improve after Harmand bought it in August if they’re gonna turn the magazine into a website, hey? Same thing just happened to U.S. News & World Report a couple of weeks ago.
Two more lib rags now have the same status as a thousand gazillion other websites! Pretty soon this is gonna happen to the entire leftist media publishing apparatus: they’re all gonna be reduced to just some web sites competing with the other bazillion web sites. Guess that will leave only the Wall Street Journal as last publisher standing!
