Beagles don’t belong there.

My first thought as well. I grew up in Alaska. We all had really big dogs that would scare the bears away from getting in our trash cans, the kind of dogs that would put up a good fight against a wolf.

At 12 I had a paper route at the end of town, where the roads weren't paved and it was all wilderness beyond the tree line. I was cutting across a logged off area, a fair bit from the nearest houses, when I was stalked by a wolf. He paced me nearly parallel, slowly closing the gap. I kept up a steady walk keeping watch on him out of the corner of my eye. When he got to within 20 feet, I knew I wouldn't make it to the safety of the houses. At that point I turned and stared him down as I slowly reached for some good size rocks. After what seemed an eternity, he must have decided there was easier game than me, so he turned and left.

A man with a 22 pistol or a big stick can fend off a wolf.

Sure ‘a’ wolf.

The wolf is a pack animal. When they hunt in a pack they are much more aggressive. Here is a good article for you.

The myth of the harmless wolf

“They do not fear much..”

When gunpowder speaks, beasts obey.

One can only hope that when a pack attacks humans, that the humans are armed and kill the pack, or at least most of them.

Wolves are pack animals, period.

A .22? LOLOLOLOLOL

You may take out one wolf but the elation of seeing one the ground will be soon be met with you seeing nothing but eyes and teeth, while you scream “Ahhhhhhh, God!!!!!!!11”

Lone Wolf McQuade runs with nobody and it would all be over before you figured out the person in front of you is Saint Peter.

They do not fear much..

I blame lack of indigenous vampires, their mortal enemies, due to the cold.

Frowning takes 68 muscles.
Smiling takes 6.
Pulling this trigger takes 2.

“Candis needs to move back to LA or wherever she came from and leave the wilderness to those who are intelligent enough to handle it.”

Perhaps the point of att this is that the Endangered Species Act (ESA) removed American’s Constitution guaranteed right to protect themselves. The Founders understood “preemptive war” - under that concept, a citizen can kill a predator he reasonably feels poses a threat to life or property.

ESA is a Constitional violation, enforced on the ground by the “Armed & Rangerous” and prosecuted in the courts by statists whose communist belief systems are treasonous in intent.

A wolf?

Czechoslovak Vlcak

You'd want one. Most people can't tell it apart from a wolf!

K... Maybe I do.

Lighten up man. You and I know it ain’t possible to go after a pack with a .22 and a really bad idea with even a single wolf.

They weigh around 100-150 pounds depending on their range and habitat.

using a .22 on anything over 30 pounds or on an armadillo isn’t going to stop something that is in the middle of it’s genetic program initiated by you becoming the target of the pack for dinner.

You want to move up to a minimum .223 and your success of a single bullet doing the beast in is probably going to be realized in 30-06 or .308.

They are more accurate, heavier, bigger, tear up a lot tissue and can give you ranging you will not get out of a .22 or .223.

.22 for rabbits and racoons = good.

.22 for game animal = really bad choice and desperate.

I don’t know anyone who would hunt a wolf with a .22.

But hey, your mileage may vary.

I have a Springfield Armoray M1A, a civilian version of the M14, its a 30 cal semi auto and I use my own reloads that are called Barnes Triple Shocks, they blow out like a spinning blade when the hit flesh. I could use a semi auto .223 but I think you would have to hit them at least three times with that smaller caliber.

Yes we have loose wolves running around, I have no love for them at all, not when they are this close to town.We seem to have more animal incursions near the towns lately than I have seen in a long time. I wish we had a bounty for wolf pelts here in the Mat-Su. I think they do up north. Eska would know more than I do.

I would love to have one. Used to own a husky-wolf, and she was the best dog in the world. Now my rat terrier mix is the best dog in the world. :)

Friend of mine on another forum has 2 vlcaks and there’s one flaw with that idea, which he’s seen others run into as well. They act almost nothing like wolves!

They tend to be shy sweeties, a bit timid with strangers but total lovey babies with their owners.

I suppose it would raise someone’s badass quotient to have a “wolf” rolled over and begging for tummy rubs, tho... :-)

Sure, we can negotiate with wolves. Just like Muslims you first need to demonstrate that you can eliminate them at will and they get very reasonable.
