Bank of America and Chase were also affected. (?)

People were not able to get into their ATMs - not just in AL, but all over the country, from what I heard on the news tonight.

Anybody else have problems?

I had a problem this afternoon at the AM/PM when I went to gas up. I just figured it was AM/PM’s machines (as usual) and went to another gas station. I ranted for about 15 mins about how AM/PM SUCKS!!! I may have been wrong.

Well I had problems( Wells Fargo). Won’t go into it but the ATM was weird, not telling me my balance, couldn’t transfer funds and then decided, time to check out, change my password and go in the bank for what I needed.

This may not be related at all. However, today, my e-mail account on att.net suddenly stopped accepting my password. When they gave me a new temporary one I immediately tried that and it did not work either. Not sure what is happening. Could be coincidence, maybe not.

Oh, so the $230K I keep in my Wells Fargo checking account that showed up as $23.00 was THEIR mistake. Whew!

I tried to check my Chase credit card activity tonight, to no avail. At first I thought I forgot my password. To retrieve it, I had to type in my SS#. Yet the computer wouldn’t allow me to type in the correct number. It kept omitting the 3rd digit when I typed it...then would tell me that I gave an incorrect number. So, I called the number on the back of my card. A recorded message asked for the last 4 digits of my account. I gave it and a recorded message stated that they didn’t have access to the online system and to hang up and try later...or to dial zero to speak with an agent. I dialed zero and the agent told me the same thing...and that it is due to “maintenance”. He said that they do this every month. First time I’ve ever had this problem. Interesting in light of the post.

The Wells Fargo outage was (is) very real. I could only get to about $500 of my money today. Ironically, just this morning I was discussng with my wife that we needed to keep more cash on hand just in case. We went into a WF branch after seeing our debit cards declined at more than one location and the tellers were unable to do anythingv for anyone in the bank. People were coming in angry and they just turned them away. After I got home I did some searches on Twitter and saw many, many comments from people who could not get to their money at Wells Fargo or Bank of America. I can see one bank’s system going down with a ‘glitch’ or something, but two at the samed time? That’s improbable, to say the least. Although, one possible scenario is that the upcoming time change tonight hosed things for them. Unlikely, but it is a possible explanation for both megabanks to glitch out at the same time.

I logged on to a Wells Fargo account about an hour ago and transferred funds between two checking accounts. There didn’t seem to be any problem.

I had major issues with BofA as follows:

Saturday November 6th, 2010 –

• Logged into mobile BofA iPhone App to transfer funds. It would not allow the transfer and gave an error message. I tried 2 times unsuccessfully then decided to log in online.
• Logged in online and could not access www.bankofamerica.com to transfer funds.
• Called BofA at 1-800-622-8731.My checking balance said it was overdrawn $120.33. I hit “0” and the automated attendant warned that there was unusually high call volume and could be on hold for up to 10 minutes. After 33 minutes and 14 seconds a message came on and said that the customer service center is closed and to please call back Monday through Friday 8 – 5. Even though it was 2:00 PM and CA CS is supposed to be open on Sat and Sun 8 – 5.

Sunday November 7th, 2010 –

• Unable to use debit card for food since my checking account showed being overdrawn $120.33. Savings now showed 2 transfers of $100 each to checking but it was not recorded on my checking balance.

Monday November 8th, 2010 –

• Called BofA at 1-800-622-8731.My checking balance said it was overdrawn $120.33. I hit “0” and the automated attendant warned that there was unusually high call volume and could be on hold for up to 10 minutes. After 13 minutes and 52 seconds I was transferred to Connie a CSR. She listened to my complaint and put me on hold to look into it. When Connie came back on the line she said that all accounts would be restored “tonight at midnight”. And that was it. No sorry your account has been frozen for 3 days and you can’t eat due to a BofA system error. Nothing…
