“...packing up the Tahoe”? What are you - a global warming denier enemy of the state?
I’ve pretty much decided if I can’t get there in my own car then I just don’t need to go.
We need to start and “Opt-out” society.
If everyone opted out, these machines would be useless. If they forced it upon us, they’d find out how unpopular this horseshit is.
I will refuse to go through one of these. I’m not someone anyone wants to look at and frankly, it’s not about them seeing me virtually naked, if they can stomach to look at me, more power to ‘em. It’s the presumption of guilt that really pisses me off.
This is a beautiful country and driving across it is a beautiful experience--especially if you get off of the interstates and drive the back roads.
Being retired does have it's benefits.
I will never fly again... NEVER. I hated the airlines before... I wish that they would all go bankrupt... and take a few unions with them.

I agree with the quote, but a line has to be drawn. Do we want 100% liberty? I am not at liberty to drive through the city at 100 mph, run red lights etc. I dont fly anymore but I do live under the flight path of the local airport. I wouldnt want a suicide bomber to cause an airliner to come down in my neighborhood.
I remember a time when we had no metal detectors and airline employees were polite. I became used to metal detectors and they werent much of a bother until I returned from Viet Nam the last time, I had enough metal in my body to set them off and was pulled to the side every time to be wanded.
Maybe (with luck) we can go back to the Good Old Days. Maybe (with luck) Muslim terrorists will quit trying to terrorize.
Wow! Am I surprised to see a link to Alex Jones’ info wars on here!
If the U.S. would take note of the Israelis way of conducting security, they would be better off. From what I understand, the security check starts with a background check when you buy your ticket. Then they talk with you before you get on the plane.
You mean actually learning from programs that are in use, effective and proven? You radical you.....
I'm not in old age but I say that is totally, utterly, 100% TRUE. If I were running things that would be mandatory learning alongside the 3R's, and on the literacy test you'd take for voting. People who haven't yet realized it are living in a cocoon.
It’s not about terrorism. 9/11 was just an excuse for the government (Bush at the time) to do what it really wanted to do: harass innocent citizens and teach them that submission is the right way to go.
They searched me like the article said, plus my carry-on. Then they did a swipe on my carry-on and my hands, then I could hear them say that I tested positive for something, like explosives.
This brought some big guys into play. I was amused. Anyway they started asking me all kinds of personal questions, like do I take any medication. I take some rx medicine and some vitamins everyday. They some more swipes, checked them in the machine again, and those swipes came up positive.
So I just stood there seeing how this was going to play out. I was not guilty of anything so I was not too bothered.
They started talking by themselves over in a small group, while they left me with one guy who told me if I had gone through the body scanner, I would not be delayed and that machine would not have caught me as being positive. I just keep my mouth shut, not denying anything, as I wanted to see what they would do.
Anyway, after about 10-15 minutes, another higher up came and talked to me. He told me the rx I take will sometimes caused a false positive reading to show up on their machines. Some of the other TSA goons looked surprised when he said this. He talked it over with the others and they talked among themselves. I finally asked him I could go, as I wanted to force a decision from them. The higher-up asked the others what they thought, they would not make a decsion, and he finally told me I was free to leave.
The goons quickly dispersed back and left me.
Would I do this again? The answer is yes, for sure. I think all of this happened because I refuse the body scanners and this was to teach me not to refuse the next time. I do not believe I really tested positive, as this was all played out to intimidate me to ensure I would never do this again. Little do they know my determination. I guess I need to plan a few more minutes in my travel for times like this.
An opt-out airline would be a good start. If you must fly, buy a subscription with them. Every subscriber would have to pass the guidelines, and they’d be strict, and you’d know nothing is perfectly safe in this world but at least it’s a choice you can make.
I don’t care to be treated like a felon and I am not an exhibitionist either so I just don’t fly anymore. Over my personal and business career, I probably racked up way over a million air miles but that is all in the past now thanks to a bunch of bureaucrats. BTW, why is it when I go to the airport, I never see an influential person or politician being subjected to this crap? Wanna bet they are “special” handling types. Like Charlie Sheen is not one to go over the edge at a moments notice? I cannot believe they cannot come up with a less intrusive method of dehumanizing paying passengers. These guys probably ran the Nazi concentration camps in their prior lives would be my guess.
Head games! Love it! Tell us what your rx is, I’d like to stock up on that stuff that gives off explosive pheremones in security corridors. :D
The situation may improve in time if clever programmers can automate analyzing the scanner date. If only a CPU saw your various bits and never human eyes morality would be satisfied. I wouldn't be too concerned over the radiation from the machines. What tends to be forgotten is that there is significantly more radiation at higher altitudes. I doubt the pre-flight scanning radiation dose is significant compared to the flight radiation dose.
It could be much simpler. In the words of Ron White:
“If the guy in front of me needs two loads of phlegm to say his name, I’m checking his shoes for fuses. “
If you can afford it fly Flex Jet. Private corporate jets $1,200 per hour. Divided by 6 people on a 6 seater thats $200 each per hour. A 2 hour flight is $400. They pick you up at your house in a limo and take you to a local airport. They ask you in advance what drinks etc you want on the plane. You get on, close the door and they taxi out and take off. No muss, no fuss and the TSA can kiss your Bupkis. No metal detectors, no shoes off no body scanner. Nada.
Additionally if everyone would just opt out of the body scanner for even a week it would all go away. A good class action lawsuit couldn’t hurt either.
