NH is a funny state. The usual red-blue thing isn't so useful in understanding state politics.
The prime directive is "mind your own business". If a politician wants to know what those two guys up the road get into at night, we don't like that politician. Live and let live is what NH social views are all about.
The Republicans had a big socon push in 2004-2006, and it cost them badly.
But as soon as the RATs took over, the avalanche of regulations began.
This may be the only state where BOTH sexual relations and economic relations among consenting adults are not everybody's business.
The RATs came in as the Live free (love) or die party, but they soon outed themselves as total statist control freaks.
Und zo, they are history.

I don’t care what 2 guys up the road are doing unless they’re doing it in the schools and using tax dollars to do it and then demand affirmation from the rest of us.
That is when people have a problem with it.
