Stunning Michael Geer

The Vatican has called for Israel to end its occupation of "Arab lands," noting that all of what we define currently as Israel is "Arab land."

That the Bible must not be used to justify either their ‘occupation' nor their ‘injustices' against Palestinians.

"The Holy Scriptures cannot be used to justify the return of Jews to Israel and the displacement of the Palestinians, to justify the occupation by Israel of Palestinian lands," Monsignor Cyril Salim Bustros, Greek Melkite archbishop of Our Lady of the Annunciation in Boston, Massachusetts, and president of the "Commission for the Message," said at Saturday's Vatican press conference.

"We Christians cannot speak of the ‘promised land' as an exclusive right for a privileged Jewish people. This promise was nullified by Christ. There is no longer a chosen people - all men and women of all countries have become the chosen people."

You've just been witness to a significant event in the End Times unfolding, amigo. The Vatican stating that Israel is "no longer a chosen people".

The Vatican has just nullified the Bible, and elevated Replacement Theology in full public view.

This is .... stunning.

Just when you thought the Catholic Church might get back on the rails, ....

They're going to have a tough time calling for another Crusade when Al Q blows the Vatican half to hell. Doesn't sound like Ratzinger, though, I'm surprised.

What is STUNNING is that people were stupid to enough to believe this interpretation. Someone connected to the Vatican might have misspoken this way....but the official Vatican would never do so.

Isn’t the entirety of Christendom justified based on the scriptures??

Just asking.

The Catholic Church could be the biblical anti-Christ

Yeah, that pesky old Jeremiac Covenant (which God referred to as a new covenant) was just too discriminatory.

I read no statement from the Vatican. An Archbishop of the Greek Melkite Church does not speak for the Vatican.

Sorry Pope, sir. You need to review the Scriptures.

“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable.”

Romans 11

Hold your fire till all the facts are out. The Vatican is regularly misquoted by the press.

Having said that, the enemy of Israel is the enemy of God.

I hope you're right, I really do. It's bad enough to have 6 flavors of Lutherans, 8 of Methodists, thousands of Baptist flavors, and myriad others with their own interpretations that call themselves Christian (along with many new age and herbivore groups who are obviously lying), without having the Catholic Church finally go all the way over the edge.

They're hanging on by their fingernails, but they're not all the way to the “free for all” define your own religion just yet.

Regards

oops.

SO the writer was an idiot. If this wasn’t from the Vatican then the writer should be fired for making it sound like it.

“Isn’t the entirety of Christendom justified based on the scriptures??”

No, it’s not. Christianity is based on is based on the collective experience of the Christian community, beginning with the life of Christ. Scriptures are a record, written by men. The experience is paramount.

What part of “Greek Melkite” don’t you understand? A “Greek Melkite” is not a Catholic. Do you attribute statements by Methodists and Lutherans to “the Vatican”?

Try peddling your ignorant, knee-jerk anti-Catholicism elsewhere.

2. There’s another thread on this topic.

3. There’s enough hideous junk involved on the Vatican side, it’s worth another thread.

Actually he didn't. And the Nazis were using his words hundreds of years later to justify their atrocities.

And by the way, I'm not Catholic.

It's ironic, but someone like Luther, whose life and world were changed because he took the Bible at its clear literal meaning when it comes to salvation by faith, refused to do the same thing when it comes to the clear words about God's purposes for the nation of Israel.

Replacement theology is very dangerous stuff.

The Bishop is fundamentally correct here.

.... a “Jew” from OT era is no longer defined by pedigree to Abraham....see. Says who? Why none other than Jesus Christ Himself.....John 8:24-45 (KJV referenced here)

John Chapter 8

V 24 - Jesus says if you do not believe I AM HE, you die in your sins...

V 24 - 27 “Jews” admit they don’t know who Jesus is.

VV 25-32 Jesus explains who He is and many Jews at that point believe on him....Jesus commends this and says ‘the truth has set you free...’

Here comes the big dividing line.......the Jews who did not believe on Jesus...

VV 33-44....the unbelieving Jews claim pedigree to Abraham as a basis for their election...Jesus dismisses that as a valid qualification and says if they were Abraham’s children, they would do the deeds of Abraham, and believe on Him just as Abraham rejoiced to see Jesus’ day....at the end of this exchange, Jesus declares....

V 44 Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

V 45And because I tell you the truth, ye believe me not.

So, the unbelieving “Jews” of today? They are not of Christ and not Abraham’s seed as Jesus defines here but of the Devil. It is unequivocal. I didn’t say it, Jesus says it right here.

When Christ arrived, he created a great division in history. The Jews of the OT ....some believed, majority rejected and wanted something else....Christ told them they follow the Devil...and a generation later..their Temple and all of the sacrificial process was obliterated...the OT faded away....

Today’s “Jew” from a religious sense and their rabbinic, Talmud-based (non-sacrificial) model of “worship” is as pagan as worshiping a totem pole.

Do I want harm to the folks known as Jews occupying Israel?...absolutely not....But they need to assimilate, cooperate....and they have no right to set up an exclusive ETHNIC privileged state any more than the Italians or the Irish do.
