The Case for Calling Them Nitwits
The Atlantic ^ | 8/2010 | Daniel Byman and Christine Fair

Posted on 10/27/2010 4:36:17 AM PDT by Haiku Guy

They blow each other up by mistake. They bungle even simple schemes. They get intimate with cows and donkeys. Our terrorist enemies trade on the perception that they’re well trained and religiously devout, but in fact, many are fools and perverts who are far less organized and sophisticated than we imagine. Can being more realistic about who our foes actually are help us stop the truly dangerous ones?

(snip)

The difference between a sophisticated killer like Mohamed Atta and so many of his hapless successors lies in training and inherent aptitude. Atta spent months learning his trade in Afghanistan and had the help of al-Qaeda’s senior leadership—a fact that underscores the importance of rooting out al-Qaeda havens in Pakistan. After all, fighting terrorism is a chore made simpler when we can keep the terrorists as inept as most of them naturally are.

I agree that these jamokes are bumblers, but that U.S. Major who killed all those folks at Fort Hood was a bumbler, but a bumbler with a 9mm can get lucky once in a while.

I think many of the recruits are stupid, which makes really complex operations hard to carry out. Simple suicide bombings, however, still succeed with regularity.

Beyond this, however, its always a mistake to underestimate your opponent.

Their fanaticism makes them ALL cracked and dis functional to an extent we invariably underestimate.

What THEY call ‘education’ is laughable and they are such failed, flawed and fallible individuals that they easily qualify as certifiable sociopathic lunatics, under even most broad definition. We have asylums and halfway houses FULL of creeps like these guys. If they had to function in the REAL world like you and your family do, they could NOT!!! THAT'S why we lock them up!!

Also known to educated, supposedly command officers. Nothing done, except wimp, PC correct, managerial command staff gun free zones edicts. The responsibility of those murders lays with the unit/base commander. Protect your troops, or resign.

These morons are held up as heroes in the Muslim world. They are portrayed like James Bond, Rambo and William Wallace all rolled into one.

Letting the World know that they are a bunch of illiterate goat-roper screw-ups will make it harder for them to recruit newbies into their cause. And their high death rate means they need a steady stream of newbies in order to operate.

I agree. I thought on 9/11 that our most effective weapon against them would be derision, well-earned derision at that. Bush seemed to want to fight a kinder, gentler war. During World War II, the Germans and Japanese counted on our lack of resolve and in this they miscalculated. So far, Osama bin-Laden looks like a winner.

Hasan wanted to martyr himself. He wanted to reap the virgins owed him by his despicable act. I am of the opinion that his execution would fulfill his fantasy, while life in prison would render him a great terrorist anti-recruiting tool.

Create a website with a live cam of his daily existence. A paralyzed from the chest down jihadist in a Texas prison unable to care for himself, at the mercy of the Great Satan.

How many will they be able to recruit on American soil if this is their reward?

“But I want to say one thing to the American people. I want you to listen to me. I’m going to say this again: I did not have sexual relations with that donkey, Miss HeeHaw. I never told anybody to lie, not a single time; never. These allegations are false. And I need to go back to work killing the American people. Thank you.”

Thanks Haiku Guy. The best approach is to get them started fighting one another on a national, international, and intranational basis, and keep them supplied with enough bullets for their mutual annihilation.

Then occupy their former lands, plant the flag, and let everyone else in the world know exactly what they'll have to do to keep buying our Persian Gulf and Arabian oil.

And to emphasize this, we'll first nuke Venezuela (and Cuba, what the hell) off the map.
