Democrats unleash the IRS and Justice on donors to their political opponents.
If at first you don't succeed, get some friends in high places to shut your opponents up. That's the latest Washington power play, as Democrats and liberals attack the Chamber of Commerce and independent spending groups in an attempt to stop businesses from participating in politics.
Since the Supreme Court's January decision in Citizens United v. FEC, Democrats in Congress have been trying to pass legislation to repeal the First Amendment for business, though not for unions. Having failed on that score, they're now turning to legal and political threats. Funny how all of this outrage never surfaced when the likes of Peter Lewis of Progressive insurance and George Soros helped to make Democrats financially dominant in 2006 and 2008.
Chairman Max Baucus of the powerful Senate Finance Committee got the threats going last month when he asked Internal Revenue Service Commissioner Douglas Shulman to investigate if certain tax exempt 501(c) groups had violated the law by engaging in too much political campaign activity. Lest there be any confusion about his targets, the Montana Democrat flagged articles focused on GOP-leaning groups, including Americans for Job Security and American Crossroads.

What a timely diversion to keep people from discussing allegations that Fannie Mae employees are being paid bonuses by the US Treasury on the numbers of 90 Day trial mortgage mods they can push through via HAMP.
That along with all of the Foreclosure Fraud on top of the Mortgage Lending Fraud...
if only there were no all-powerful IRS to use as a bludgeon against our citizens corporate and private...

Defund the left. The left .orgs get direct transfer payments from government through contracts (eg. Acorn and the census . . . we just don’t hear about the others). Government funding to left professors for their bizarre studies; bailouts of the GM union pension fund, PBS, teacher’s union gets billions in Fed aid indirectly, etc. etc. etc.

I heard Karl Rove on Fox News Sunday this morning and he ripped into Obama big time for this.
fairtax is a scam. we are seeing the warings now.
it includes a monthly welfare check called a “prebate”. it will not be a nano-second before we have calls for a living prebate that actually covers the necessities. K street will be sending lobbyists in droves for exemptions and for their clients being found to give a “necessity”.
16,000 new IRS agents aren’t coming to ticket you for not buying health insurance. The Dems have much better uses for them.
Deja-Vu, Bubba Klinton was fond of the same sort of thug behavior.
Remember how he forced the NRA to spend millions providing staff, records, and an office for a bogus IRS audit, which found nothing?
I hope that business does everything it can to limit these thugs power on Nov. 2.
This was an excellent editorial. I read it in the Journal this morning.
I wish other media sources appeared a little more concerned about the thuggery and intimidation that has suddenly become an accepted part of US government behavior.
Are 501 (c) prganizations required to file annual forms with the IRS?
I don’t think they have to pay taxes, but do they have to file the information? Such as foundations?
If so, where can we get such information on foundations?
