War of words erupts over ‘Secretariat’
Is ‘a work of creepy, half-hilarious’ propaganda, a review says

“Mostly the conversation has raged online between film critic Roger Ebert and Salon reviewer Andrew O’Hehir, but movie-loving bloggers everywhere are weighing in.”

Disney will pander to NORMAL people to fill their coffers.
Times must be tough to Disney since they prefer to make
porn and soft pron movies. Disney is not what it used to be.

I would not normally put movies about Horse Racing on my must watch list, but after seeing the pre-views the wife and I are both looking forward to seeing it.

I guess the gays aren’t bringing in enough money for the Disney coffers.

I saw it yesterday, and I really enjoyed it. Even if I did remember the ending. LOL!

I love Diane Lane and she looked so pretty in the promo. I’m glad they picked her for this story. Bump.

I would love to see this. I go to maybe one movie every couple of years, but this one seems very appealing to me.

Hollywood seems to have forgotten that people need escape from reality in a good and uplifting way. Maybe they are beginning to remember their purpose.

There are many Christians who consider betting to be a sin, so this sounds like a strange way to promote a horse racing movie.

Bible quote (Job 39:19) at the beginning of the movie:

“Do you give the horse his might? Do you clothe his neck with a mane? Do you make him leap like the locust? His majestic snorting is terrible. He paws in the valley, and rejoices in his strength; He goes out to meet the weapons. He laughs at fear and is not dismayed; And he does not turn back from the sword. The quiver rattles against him, The flashing spear and javelin. With shaking and rage he races over the ground, And he does not stand still at the voice of the trumpet."

Saw it and I loved it. Maybe because I have always had a crush on Diane Lane, ever since "A Little Romance."

People must remember that the reason why the sports world was cheated out of Secretariat running as a 4 year old was because federal inheritance laws required the Chenery heirs to raise money quickly. Ravenous government sent him to the sidelines. Up to then, the Chenerys had raced their prospective studs (including Riva Ridge, the previous year’s Kentucky Derby winner).

So the movie is truthful in that respect.

PS. Still, Citation was the best horse of the 20th Century, followed by Man o’ War.

Conservatism is on the rise. Fiscally. And culturally.

Period.

Commies, progressives and libs are on suicide watch.

I just wish that we would NOT politicize specific movies and leave it to the audience or the market to determine if it likes the movie or not and what it derives from the two hour experience in viewing it.

Having said that I have nothing against analyzing the movie industry or several movies over a good length of time to demonstrate a trend but singling this movie out as representative of the Tea Party movement or right-wing propaganda especially when it is a biography is simply vacuous and a Leftist effort to cause circumscription among American filmgoers.

We plan to see this film because it sounds interesting. Too many films have been just boring.

1973 was an awesome year...it just so happens to be the year I was born ;).

Loved ‘Seabiscuit’ and am looking forward to this one. Horses are such magnificent creatures to watch run.

I met Secretariat during August of 1978. My friend Tom and I road our bicycles from Columbus, Oh to Lexington, Ky and back during a six day trip (only 5 days riding due to a day of rain). On the way back, we stopped during the rain in Paris, Ky.

We bided our time n a mom and pop grocery store/gas station and talked with some of the locals. One of them was a farm hand at Clayborne Farms. He asked us, “Hey, you wanna see Secretariat?” He took us to the farm, so Tom and I got to spend 10-15 minutes with him. Now that I think about it, I may have a picture. I'm gonna have to look for that.

2 weeks ago our local newspaper ran a feature written by a local reporter about how he bought Secretariat’s gransdson after he was retired from race course circuit. He fell in love with this horse when he was asked to cover him in a year when the descendents of numerous great horses were hitting the track. This colt was special — even carries the faint star on the forehead — but he never really tore up the race track. The owner refused to sell, as long as he did well enough to pay his feed bill, but when he tore (or strained) a muscle the owner decided to sell to our reporter.

Secretariat’s grandson is now running free in a field in our county. Attempts to turn him into an ordinary riding horse have been mixed. He threw our intrepid reporter on his first ride, and the reporter is now nursing 5 cracked ribs.

I would post the link and picture, but I can’t remember the title and I can’t find it with a search. It ran in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. I had wanted to send the link to my graddaghter and DIL who are both horse crazy. :(

I’ll keep looking, and I will go see this movie.
