Comeback Man Musharraf Calls Nawaz Sharif 'Brainless'

Pakistan's former military ruler Pervez Musharraf, who in 1999 overthrew the government of Nawaz Sharif, believes the two-time premier lacks intellect and is "totally brainless".

Musharraf, who launched his All Pakistan Muslim League in the UK and announced his return to active politics said Sharif lost power twice as he lacked intellect.

" Nawaz Sharif lost power twice because he lacked intellect," Musharraf, who also apologised to the people for the mistakes of his regime, told hundreds of supporters in Birmingham last evening.

"I worked with him for an entire year and noticed that Nawaz Sharif is totally brainless," Musharraf was quoted as saying by the News International.

Musharraf said his party -- All Pakistan Muslim League -- would be accountable to people and have a democratic structure where power would not be inherited.

"If voted to power, we will be accountable to the people. Our party will have a democratic structure and power will not be inherited," he said.

Sharif, who was thrown out by Musharraf in a bloodless coup, is considered a bitter foe of the former president.

Outside the venue of the rally, a few hundred members of pan-Islamic body Hizbut Tahrir gathered in a peaceful protest.

Some held banners that read "Pakistan needs an accountable ruler" while others hit Musharraf's posters with footwears.

Well the civilian government has done everything they can to blow it, and if Musharraf is still popular with the military, he might be as close as they could get to a civilian compromise.

I question how much success a new Party led by Pervez Musharraf can ever be in Pakistan; and I worry about how much more trouble his followers can stir up over there than there already is. Not everyone over there will rejoice about this decision.

At the same time, let’s keep in mind that there are several factions in and around the ‘Stans who covet control, if not outright possession of the Islamic Bombs, the real legacy of Pervez Musharraf and A.Q. Kahn’s illicit network.

Nawaz Sharif or Zardari and their pet goats can be as Islamist as they want because they won’t be able to lift a finger if the military doesn’t allow them to. Pakistani politics is a sick joke.

The Sharif family is very powerful, more so than Musharraf who would have to rely on military connections. The Sharifs are definitely Islamists and hate us and the West. Thankfully they don't have widespread support but are a significant problem. Nawaz Sharif, in my opinion, is the key to bin Laden and Zawahiri's sanctuary in Pakistan. Nawaz knows Osama personally.

The problem with Musharraf is his deep military connections and that conflicts with the IMF loans that the Feudals need to finance their businesses.

I guess that it probably is better if Pakistan and Turkey is run by the military than by the civilian politicians. The reason is that these countries are infested by Islam that has a negative impact on the development of a country.
