Arlington opts out of federal immigration enforcement program [Virginia]

The Arlington County Board has unanimously passed a resolution to opt out of the federal Secure Communities program, which uses the fingerprints of people in custody for other reasons to identify illegal immigrants.

"It is not the role of Arlington County law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws," the resolution states.

Last spring, Virginia officials signed up for the program, which shares any arrested individuals' fingerprints with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, without asking Arlington law enforcement's opinion, said board member Walter Tejada, the resolution's sponsor.

"We are not defending criminals," Tejada said at Tuesday's board meeting. However, he continued, "People who have not commited serious crimes...are finding themselves in this web" leading to deportation.

The resolution states that Arlington strives to be a diverse and inclusive community, with more than one-third of the population belonging to a minority group and one-quarter being born outside of the country.

While the county supports "meaningful and comprehensive immigration reform," it will also protect civil rights and liberties, the document states.

"It is not the role of Arlington County law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws,"

Ever notice how nobody ever wants to do anything anymore? They only want to sit around on their asses waiting for somebody else to take care of the problem. You've got criminals running around all over the place. Just what the hell is the job of Arlington County's "law enforcement" types? Sounds like Arlington County might need those illegal aliens to do the job the so-called "americans" don't want to do.

Now that Arlington is protecting criminals I propose that we build a wall between them and Fairfax County and check their fingerprints and IDs as they pass back and forth.

Could make a heck of a rush hour on I66 and US 50, and maybe even I95 but Arlington's representatives have now told us they like it like that.

We should also put those representatives on the mandatory stop and frisk list though ~ particularly that Tejada guy ~ he's most likely got narcotrafficantes up his snoot if not his chute.

The colonization of America by a foreign country proceeds quietly, pervasively, methodically and perversely.

If Congress grants amnesty to millions of invaders and they vote, we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years.

Hasta la vista, baby.

Isn’t it wonderful that the city in Virginia that inters the remains of the thousands of military heros of the United States;

Can’t even support laws that attempt to protect our borders from illegal infiltrators into their city??

As this keeps up, the US is so doomed as a future strong world leader!

I guess this means that Arlington will also stop enforcing other federal laws, such as kidnapping and bank robbery. /sarcasm

“...It is not the role of Arlington County law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws...”

Not true! sworn law enforcement officers at local level take an oath to enforce all laws - local, state and federal. They can't pick and choose.

"It is not the role of Arlington County law enforcement to enforce federal immigration laws,"

Isn't that the position of the Obama Administration? They're suing Arizona right now, claiming that it's not the role of Arizona to enforce federal immigration laws.

If you enforce the law, the Feds will sue you. If you don't enforce the law, the Feds will sue you. Why even have laws in the first place?

The local voters almost certainly disagree—as the commissioners will find out soon enough.

I could be wrong, but I think Walter arrived as an illegal alien and somehow managed to regularize his status. He has no concept of the rule of law, except for collecting taxes, is a demagogue of the first magnitude and a socialist. Whole areas are overrun with illegals. I AM SO GLAD I DON’T LIVE IN ARLINGTON, FOR OH SO MANY REASONS, their street maintenance incompetence being just one of them. It might as well be in Maryland.

I knew California was a lost cause with all the shameless liberal traitors who permeate my home state, but if Virginia goes the way of California, then we might as well kiss the United States good bye and surrender to Mexico.

There is no way in hell that the Mexican invaders and Mecha, La Raza and all these other Mexican fascist groups can claim the original 13 colonies.

I didn’t know the depth of hate for traitorous liberals could get any deeper, then I read something like this, and it does.

By the way, in my little hometown this week, 3 deadly shootings, guess who the usual suspects are?

Hint:

They weren’t White Christian conservatives playing with their guns.
