Rep. Sanchez Apologizes (CA) for 'Vietnamese' Remark
Politics Daily ^ | September 25, 2010 | Luisita Lopez Torregrosa

Posted on 09/26/2010 9:24:42 AM PDT by Clintonfatigued

Poor Loretta, she was left with nothing to do but apologize. "I used a poor choice of words that some people have taken as offensive," she said at a news conference Friday afternoon. "I apologize for those remarks." But she didn't apologize for calling him "very anti-immigrant and very anti-Hispanic.''

"She directly attacked me, slandered me," Tran said on Friday, demanding an apology. A lawyer who with his family left Saigon shortly before South Vietnam fell to the communists in 1975, Tran accused her of going on "a racial rampage" on Spanish-language TV.

We throw those words around too loosely, but the truth is, there's no way to misinterpret Sanchez's remarks. She was plainly playing the race card, making a play for the Hispanic vote by pitting Latinos against the smaller Vietnamese community.

What's startling, too, was her apparent sense of entitlement. When she said that the Vietnamese and the GOP were trying to "take away this seat," she clearly meant "our seat."

Democrats just can’t help but let their racism slip.

I hope Tran TROUNCES this witch.

Too late for apologies, Loretta. Your true colors have already been exposed.

Several times.

This author is correct. Loretta Sanchez has an overwhelming, all-consuming sense of entitlement.

Isn't she the one who stole the seat from "B1" Bob Dornan ?

It should not be forgotten that Sanchez first won office aided by illegal votes. In the 1996 election she “won” by just over 900 votes but as many as 4,023 voter registrations were found to be fraudulent. The democrat controlled congress was petitioned to investigate but saw nothing irregular.

Yes. She had run against him in the R primary as Loretta Brixey, her married name. When she couldn’t beat him, she ran as a D using her maiden name Sanchez. She has been pandering for minority votes the whole time she has been in office. I guess she was miffed that the Asian minority might go for Tran.

This is the "Latina" who used to use an Anglo name but changed it to trade on her heritage when she went after B-1 Bob Dornan and beat him, if I recall correctly. I'm sure she used all sorts of accusations of ethnic and cultural racism against ole' Bob back then. Funny, doesn't seem to be exactly the same kind of thing with her now, does it?

"I used a poor choice of words that some people have taken as offensive," she said at a news conference Friday afternoon. "I apologize for those remarks."

Compare this to a little more complete version:"I used a poor choice of words that some people have taken as offensive," Sanchez said during a small press conference late Friday afternoon. "Let me say as clearly as I can that if, through my inarticulate use of the language, I offended anyone, I apologize for those remarks."

Blame an inarticulate statement rather than herself for stating it. Then include the magic words "if .. I offended". Real apologies never include the word "if". "If" is for defense and rationalization, never heartfelt apologies. She is apologizing that she wasn't polite enough when insulting the Vietnamese when talking in Spanish to her Hispanic voter base.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t this guy give the rats a deciding vote on something bad a few years back?

No, you’re thinking about Cao of Louisiana.

Van Tran is challenging the incumbent, Loretta Sanchez.
