(from the transcript)
And economists know nothing about ecosystems. They dont know nothing about thermodynamics, you know, nothing about biodiversity or anything. I mean, they are totally ignorant in that respect. And I dont see what harm it would do, you know, to an economist to know that if the beasts would disappear, he would disappear as well, because there wouldnt be food anymore. But he doesnt know that, you know, that we depend absolutely from nature. But for these economists we have, nature is a subsystem of the economy. I mean, its absolutely crazy.
Snip
But some believe, you know, and state that its definite: we are finished. We are finished. In a few more decades, I mean, there will be no humanity anymore. I dont think we have reached that point of it, but I believe that we are pretty close to it. Ill say that we already crossed one of the three rivers. And if you look at it and what is happening everywhere, I mean, its quite frightening how the amount of catastrophes are increasing all over the place, you know, in all manifestationsstorms, earthquakes, you know, volcanoes erupting. I mean, the amount of events is growing dramatically. I mean, its really frightening. And we continue with the same.
Snip
I mean, your country is the most dramatic example that you can find. I have gone as far as sayingand this is a chapter of a book of mine that is published next month in England, the title of which is Economics Unmasked. There is a chapter called "The United States, an Underdeveloping Nation," which is a new category. We have developed, underdeveloped and developing. Now you have underdeveloping. And your country is an example, in which the one percent of the Americans, you know, are doing better and better and better, and the 99 percent is going down, in all sorts of manifestations. People living in their cars now and sleeping in their cars, you know, parked in front of the house that used to be their housethousands of people. Millions of people, you know, have lost everything. But the speculators that brought about the whole mess, oh, they are fantastically well off. No problem. No problem.

LOL! Well that was a lot of nuthin’.
In poverty, you cannot be an idiot if you want to survive, he quipped.
Don't they wish it were all true.
Any that watch this program WANT to be indoctrinated..
-OR- monitor the current lies of the HIVE....
I tend to discount the words of anyone who claims "greed" as a force in worsening economic conditions.
>on Democracy Now<
Zottable on sight
Although there are elements of truth in this analysis, I am not overly impressed. One statement in particular was: “From the ashes of the collapse will come the opportunity to build a new economy based on human principles of valuing all life.”
HUMAN principles should not be the foundation. Divine principles should. This is where human beings have always gone off track.
Article is stragegically timed with the release of the sequel to Wall Street.
greed.
surrender your wealth, you greedy person.
What absolute nonsense.
This article is overflowing with its hidden agenda.
Amy Goodman? Democracy Now? What kind of Leftist cr@p is that on a FR?
We are running out of space in almost infinite universe
he is so celebrated that after 30 years as a professor of economics and numerous publications I have never heard of him or seen any paper he published.
He sounds like an idiot if you want my opinion.
Perhaps this “eminent economist” should engage in a live televised debate with Mr. Buffet; they seem to have differing opinions!
You really want to quote a fruitcake who is the product of Berkeley?

LOL...
The answer is simple;
America must initiate country by country reciprocal trade tariffs - driving either those countries to (1) buy as much from us as we do from them, or (2) bringing jobs back to America from countries which refuse to.
The end is otherwise near. We do not have the luxury of fiddling. Rome is burning.
Initiate tariffs, and bring back American jobs. It’s our only way out of this mess.
You mean Humanist World Order?
it must take place in an entirely new economic model to be successful
If I had a nickel for every time I heard that on campus...
If nothing else, “dramatically poisonous” serves as a good description of the programming on “Democracy Now!”
Read the comments for an example of similar tripe:

When considering limitless energy, several socialists argue that it is irresponsible to provide such a service because that would allow for more advancement and higher pop growth. Better to withhold such tech and let the pop of the planet dramatically decrease as humanity fights over decreasing energy.
It’s also a great article about LTFR - liquid thorium flouride reactors.
