Everyone has these pronouncements about what is the numero uno drive in the world and lay them out with no backing.

What is sad is that economic profit which drives market economies forward was been equated with greed. Is it greed when an entrepreneur assumes great risk, succeeds and makes a large profit as a result? Look at Bill Gates and all the employment and economic development that has resulted because of the success of Microsoft. In today’s mindset he committed a social sin because his success made him wealthy. Yet today’s moralists have no problem with a poor California town paying its corrupt officials large 6 figure salaries or union bosses making million dollar salaries and living like pashas while their union members loose their jobs.
