Whenever they put “justice” on anything, it doesn’t mean justice. It means redistribution of wealth.
Many, many years ago an executive of a big technology company came to speak at our engineering school. A point he made that day I have never forgotten, to wit “Any ‘science’ that uses the word ‘science’ in its name isn’t.”
A corollary to this is that any ‘justice’ that takes a modifier in front of it isn’t.
Maybe they should try and fix the economy first!
Sounds a little too much like Van Jones, doesn’t it?
Well, there’s an inconvenient fact they need to consider: Probably the most “polluting” industries (which is pretty relative these days compared to decades ago) involve jobs which employ people with less education, i.e., poor people and minorities. So you can have a clean environment but no businesses who will employ less-educated citizens, or you can have jobs and some pollution risks. Clean industries usually require a highly-educated workforce.
Rather than try to find ways to sustain folks in unsustainable cities, they ought to let the people themselves decide what they want and encourage them to improve their own environment or move on to better environs. Instead they will merely try the BP Ploy and force companies to set up liability funds administered by the government to keep these folks down on the plantation generation after generation.
This has nothing to do with the environment and less to do with justice. The reason that inner-city areas are disproportionately polluted is because they are dominated by government and public ownership. Privatize city land and establish enterprise zones and watch the cleanup begin.
“Environmental Justice”
Translation:
“Let’s stick it to Whitey”.
Last time they added race bait to environmentalism, it was a poisonous stew that was soon crushed by the voters. Esclating the race bait will be final nail in the Left’s coffin for a while.
This should motivate a few more votes against ‘em. If I didn’t know better, I’d think the White House was trying to loose this election.
The word “Justice” attached to anything before it means only one thing... Socialism and Marxism.
BTW, I actually know someone who is considering declaring “Environmental Justice” as their major for college.
