Star Reporter Quits Yahoo Because They Wouldn't Let Him Write About Big White House Salaries

Yahoo News editor Andrew Golis says star reporter John Cook is quitting to re-join Gawker because "he prefers the license Gawker gave him to add his opinions into his reporting to the scale and credibility Yahoo! News could offer."
John tells AOL's Jeff Bercovici that's hogwash.
He says he quit Yahoo because they censored him like crazy.
Bercovici reports:
In one instance, Cook was forced to bowdlerize a quotation from New York Times reporter James Risen; he was told that referring to masturbation, even euphemistically, was unacceptable. On similar grounds, he was prohibited from writing about the conservative website Free Republic hosting child pornography. Most glaringly, he was told that a proposed story on the Obama Administration raising the salary of White House staffers by 9% lacked the necessary balance; it was killed.

That's good.
Say what?
“Most glaringly, he was told that a proposed story on the Obama Administration raising the salary of White House staffers by 9% lacked the necessary balance; it was killed.”
Sounds bias free to me. (sarc)
When did they add the porno forum?
Child pornography? Why would he say that? That is nuts.
Hosting child porn... Right...
Let me guess, he or one his associates posted child porn to a thread, captured the thread and claimed it was FR hosting child porn before anyone discovered what he did...
What a low life.
Perhaps it involved discussion of Kevin Phillip, the Safe School Czar.
Child porn???
Maybe it was that story about Richard Gere and baby gerbils.
What child porn? It appears the writer was going to file something that could have gotten AP sued.
So they ended up throwing this jerk off of Yahoo. Good riddance!
I recall a KOS guy admitting he put child porn links on profile pages he created to ‘test how long they would last’.. I wonder if this is the same guy.
Actually, the Kos poster put the porn on his profile page hoping that the mods wouldn’t catch it.
That poster is now banned and his profile has been deleted.
He still managed to get the key words spread around the internet for search engines. Libelous?
Rotsa ruck to that poster.
The amdodminnerators are dang near omniscient.
I know this from experience.
Salon wrote an article on FR and child porn and came to the conclusion that, “Now FreeRepublic.com is not hosting or even “condoning” child pornography. It’s just that it’s so ridiculously easy to set up a profile and get your own FreeRepublic page that apparently anyone can and will do it. Theoretically, someone could do this at Kos or OpenSalon. (But, as far as we know, no one has.)”
The whole thing was a setup of course.
I seem to recall when that charge was posted here, several folks googled some similar keywords to what this guy created and found some nasty accounts or screen names created on both sites.
Ministry of Truth bookmark.
LOL !!!!!! That is FUNNY.
Sad, it is most likely true.
I’ve been around since 1998 and have never seen anything like that.
