Between now and Election Day, the Times Union will examine the claims of many of the ads -- TV, radio, print -- being deployed by the candidates in regional and statewide races. Here's a look at two ads currently on the air in the 20th Congressional District contest between U.S. Rep. Scott Murphy (D-Glens Falls) and his Republican challenger, Chris Gibson.
The ad: "Betrayed"

Producer: The 60 Plus Association, an advocacy group that describes itself as "the conservative alternative to the American Association of Retired Persons." The organization has fielded similar ads in more than a dozen congressional races around the nation.
The script: In quick succession, a series of seniors appear on screen to criticize Murphy's decision to vote on the final health care package. "He's putting Nancy Pelosi's liberal agenda ahead of our needs," they say. "Murphy voted for Pelosi's health care bill ... that costs a trillion dollars and cuts $500 billion from Medicare ... that will hurt the quality of our care."
Analysis: The bulk of this ad is correctly cast, albeit delivered in loaded language: Murphy sits in House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Democratic conference, and in doing so is at least a tacit supporter. Murphy did vote against one version of health care restructuring legislation before backing the package that eventually passed.
But it's a stretch to say that the bill "cuts" $500 billion from Medicare. A report from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services found the bill counts on $575 billion from slowing the projected growth of Medicare costs over the next 10 years, but the overall amount spent continues to rise, not fall.

I dont get involved in the particulars of promoting political candidates.....But in New Yorks 20th Congressional District this year one of the rarest individuals I have ever met.....if we are going to save the country, we need leaders like Gibson.....

What county is the 20th or what area of NY?
It’s oddly shaped. It spans 10 counties roughly north, south and east of Albany, but not including the City of Albany.
NY 20th Map:

This district was ‘red’ for decades (Cong. Jerry Solomon)
and we are determined to turn it back...to red
It’s oddly shaped, as you can see from the map, due to redrawing, last census
NY has a lot of conservatives, especially upstate, but we are quite outnumbered by the Libs in the metro areas

Thanks for the link!
I used to live in NY and was interested.
Find it amazing that the Times-Union is going to analyze the ads
Right off the bat they use the language on the Americans 60+ ad as “loaded language”.
Can’t wait for them to analyze Paladino for Governor race ads. That should be fun.
In our family we never bought the Times-Union! Ever.
Go for it I think the Tea Party conservative message is powerful.
Gotta get those folks that haven’t voted in year’s because they were disgusted with the representation there, State wide and National.
Ground work but you know that I am sure.
