On September 25, 2009 from 4 am until 7 pm, a National Day of Prayer for the Muslim religion was held on Capitol Hill.
STATUS: TRUE. It wasn’t billed as a “National Day of Prayer,” however, nor was it sponsored or promoted by the U.S. government. Described by its creators as a “day of Islamic unity” and featuring Muslim prayers and readings from the Qur’an, the all-day event was called “Islam on Capital Hill.” It was sponsored by a Washington, DC mosque.

National Day Of Prayer Service Cancelled By Obama, Causes Stir
» 10 comments

The Obama Administration canceled the White House service to observe the National Day of Prayer, causing a big stir among those who may be looking for reasons or examples to question the President’s faith. It turns out that the President did not cancel the actual day, but rather the ecumenical service, a tradition that only started under the previous administration.

Writing for the LA Times, Johanna Neuman reports:

On the first Thursday of May, dedicated as the National Day of Prayer, President George W. Bush hosted an ecumenical service in the East Room, a big public endorsement of evangelical Christians. (This event is different from the National Prayer Breakfast, held outside the White House gates every year on the first Thursday of February.)

President Obama opted not to have a service in the White House this year.

“Prayer is something that the president does every day,” explained White House press secretary Robert Gibbs, adding that Obama will sign a proclamation to recognize the day. “I think the president understands, in his own life and in his family’s life, the role that prayer plays.”

Ah hem!

Why Do People Say Muslim Now Instead of Moslem?
By Yii-Ann Christine Chen

Ms. Chen is a student at the University of Washington and an intern at HNN.

Is it Muslim or Moslem?

When Baby Boomers were children it was Moslem. The American Heritage Dictionary (1992) noted, “Moslem is the form predominantly preferred in journalism and popular usage. Muslim is preferred by scholars and by English-speaking adherents of Islam.” No more. Now, almost everybody uses Muslim.

According to the Center for Nonproliferation Studies, “Moslem and Muslim are basically two different spellings for the same word.” But the seemingly arbitrary choice of spellings is a sensitive subject for many followers of Islam. Whereas for most English speakers, the two words are synonymous in meaning, the Arabic roots of the two words are very different. A Muslim in Arabic means “one who gives himself to God,” and is by definition, someone who adheres to Islam. By contrast, a Moslem in Arabic means “one who is evil and unjust” when the word is pronounced, as it is in English, Mozlem with a z.

...

Journalists switched to Muslim from Moslem in recent years under pressure from Islamic groups. But the use of the word Moslem has not entirely ceased. Established institutions which used the older form of the name have been reluctant to change. The American Moslem Foundation is still the American Moslem Foundation (much as the NAACP is still the NAACP—the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People). The journal The Moslem World—published by the Hartford Seminary in Connecticut—is still The Moslem World.

Call them what they are - MOSLEMS!

“sometimes the best solution is not the ideal solution.”

The guy’s amazing. He’s one straw man after another. Perhaps he can ponder whether he can come up with ideal solution for another couple of years.

We don't think that a war between Israel and Iran or military options would be the ideal way to solve this problem. But we are keeping all our options on the table So what is it? He does not think that a war is a way to solve the problem? Or military options are? What does that even mean? I just do not like his table!

Obama acknowledged that Teheran posessing a nuclear weapon would present a "real problem," in a Monday interview with American news station CNBC
As opposed to the imaginary problems -- like building permits in Jerusalem and a non-existent health care crisis -- Obama has wasted most of his time in office addressing. Continuing:
stated that he did not think military action by Israel or the United States was the "ideal way" the threat posed by the Islamic regime's nuclear proliferation effort.
Not a sentence. Continuing:
"We continue to be open to diplomatic solutions to resolve this. We don't think that a war between Israel and Iran or military options would be the ideal way to solve this problem. But we are keeping all our options on the table," he said.
And his head up his ass. Thanks Nachum.

A democratic revolution within Iran would be "an ideal solution."

But then you already pissed off (really, more like pissed on) a rare and golden opportunity to help make that happen -- didn't you? -- President Dumbshiite.
