More than a year after Congress approved $800 billion in stimulus funds, the Los Angeles City Controller has released a 40-page report on how the city spent its share, and the results are not living up to expectations.
"I'm disappointed that we've only created or retained 55 jobs after receiving $111 million," said Wendy Greuel, the city's controller. "With our local unemployment rate over 12% we need to do a better job cutting red tape and putting Angelenos back to work."

Wow, just over 2 million per job “saved.” At my gross yearly income I could retire before my 2 million ran out. Maybe I should go do something stupid and irresponsible so the big nanny-state will come and bail me out. Save me! Save me!!!...Nah, I have self-respect and an independent streak in me.
The Controller in LA gives the effort a B+.
Simply unbelievable!
I am surprised it was as many as 55 ... considering all the waste and corruption.
I saw that on Fox ..OUTRAGEOUS!
I could have easily rounded up 111 people who would have been willing to give there job to someone who didnt have one for a million each. I could double the efficiency over night. Instead of them saying saved or created, they could say saved and created. Do ya think I should call em?
“local unemployment rate over 12%”
Quit being so negative, without the stimulus, unemployment may or may not have hit 12.0000000000000000000001%
....and these a**holes wonder why there is a Tea Party
L.A.: $ 111,000,000 in Stimulus Saved Just 55 Jobs!!!
Did everyone see what Fox news is reporting? The person in charge of the stimulus jobs in Los Angeles has filed a 40 page report stating that $111 million in stimulus money from the federal government resulted in...
Wait for it...
55 jobs!
Yes!!
That is about $2 million per job — life is sweet, if you’re sucking on the government teat, and getting a job that is worth $2 million from city Council friends.
How could anyone think that this is the way to create jobs in America — why don’t they just fly over the city of Los Angeles and shovel hundred dollar bills out the side of the airplane?
Hell, now that I think about it, that would probably generate a lot more stimulus than the 55 jobs that they claim they created.
Oh, and you’ll be glad to know, the city comptroller said “We need to do a better job next time”— I guess she’s already looking forward to her next $111 million stimulus — hell yeah, now we can hire 55 more people!!!
By the time China runs out of money I guess we will have hired about 5,000 people.
Does anyone remember when the Chinese government told Barack Hussein Obama “There is not enough money in the world to loan to America, for all the money that America wants to borrow”.
Do you think the government is paying attention?
I don’t.
Yet more data that YOU need to gret out and vote these bastards OUT! At all levels the LIBs/DIMs and their moonbatty hangers-ons need ousted. In any other world than this Bizzarro world we live these creeps would be in jail.
Yep. I wonder how much of that 'stimulus' money wound up under mattresses. IMHO, the biggest problem is the hand-washing that goes on, because it begets corruption on a massive scale.
Maybe we should make violation of the public trust a capital offense that culminated in a public hanging.
You might be amazed how honest the political elite will become.
Means that some pockets must have got lined with some extra cash.
“life is sweet, if youre sucking on the government teat”
That just made my day.
Remember how they used to cite ‘lives touched’ in reference to the stimulus? How much you want to bet they’ll do it again? Let’s see, each of the people in those 55 jobs probably had a family of...4. Yeah, that sounds about right. And each of them probably shopped at 5 different places with the income money. Every person who worked at the store could then afford to buy birthday gifts for 10 friends...and the friends shared what they got with their family of 4. Each person in that family then told 20 of their friends how wonderful it all was.
See there? 880,000 lives touched by this stimulus! Spin THAT!
Several of the jobs were probably from making and filing the report...
Could I have one of those jobs for just one year, please?
