A 1st Congressional District debate slated for Monday has been canceled since DFL Congressman Tim Walz declined to participate. The Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce and the Post-Bulletin had partnered to sponsor the debate.
Chamber president John Wade said it did not make sense to hold the debate even though the three other candidates Republican Randy Demmer, IP candidate Steven Wilson and independent Lars Johnson had planned to attend.

Declined my eye, Walz is more like Harry Houdini doing a disappearing act.
I'd bet in Rochester the Mayo Clinic employees are the ones he's trying to avoid because of his Health sCare vote. The Government Saving will diminish their long term income, and most these folks had to be 'A' students to have a good career in the medical field.

Tim Walz has a Pelosi moment, obviously he didn't read or understand what was in the Health sCare bill;

Rep. Tim Walz, D-Minn., "They just didn't understand how we could save money on this by adding more people to the system, how it was going to impact them in terms of their premiums and their access to care."

Statement from Walzs congressional office
http://www.bluestemprairie.com/a_bluestem_prairie/2009/01/walz-votes-for-stimulus-bill.html
This legislation will create and save 3 to 4 million jobs, rebuilding America, making us more globally competitive and energy independent, and transforming our economy for long-term growth; give 95% of American workers an immediate tax cut; and invest quickly in the economy with 75% spent in the first 18 months.
Whats exciting is that southern Minnesotans can benefit greatly from this strategy. Experts say more than 90 percent of the jobs created will be in the private sector. added Walz.

Wheres Walz? Hiding behind Veterans.
Walz releases first TV campaign ad of season (video)
http://www.postbulletin.com/newsmanager/templates/localnews_story.asp?z=42&a=468795
The ad centers on Walz’s efforts to help veterans diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease after being exposed to Agent Orange in Vietnam get disability benefits. Several of the veterans joined Walz at a news conference announcing the ad campaign.

Hiding behind Veterans.
Yep, his latest town hall, and this veteran wanted to attend to ask “What about us veterans who just want jobs?” Of course I didn’t go out of respect for those veterans who would have serious problems, and me arguing with Walz about reading and understanding bills before he vote wouldn’t do their blood pressure any good.

Why in the world was it cancelled? This Tim Walz would have very happily attended...

This is wrong. Why cancel the debate, because one guy doesn’t show up? The Chamber did this? Dumb.

I’d also bet Chamber president John Wade is a democrat and didn’t want to give the other candidates a betteer foothold on the election.
