Paladino wins GOP nomination for NY governor
The Daily Freeman ^

NEW YORK (AP) — Tea party activist Carl Paladino wasted no time in setting his sights on Democrat Andrew Cuomo after confounding pundits and rolling over the leaders of New York's Republican and Conservative parties with a stunning win in the GOP primary for governor.

"Andrew Cuomo has to answer to the people," Paladino said Tuesday after defeating Republican Party designee Rick Lazio, a former congressman. Cuomo "is going to have to debate me. I'll debate him 49 days if there are 49 days between now and then."

"He was never vetted. He came in on Spitzer's coattails," Paladino said, referring to former Gov. Eliot Spitzer, who resigned in disgrace following a prostitution scandal after he led the 2006 Democratic ticket that included Cuomo as the attorney general nominee.

Paladino says he will succeed in fixing Albany's corruption and dysfunction because he's not a professional politician.

"They brought with them a desire to keep holding office. This is the first and last time I'm going to run for elected office," he said, repeating his promise to serve one four-year term.

Cuomo, the one-term attorney general who also was a private-sector lawyer, secretary of housing in the Clinton administration and an aide to his father, former Gov. Mario Cuomo, didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Palladino: No to Ground Zero Mosque.

Paladino shold just use ground Zero and NY’s rising taxes as his campaign. It would be tough to pull a Christy there.

The other day I received a mailer from the Conservative party supporting LAZIO b/c Paladino said that welfare recipients should be rounded up and taught basic hygiene and social mores. They saw that as a drawback. . . I saw it as a PLUS and further cemented my vote for Paladino. Now if we can change the family court law to give 50/50 custody in all divorces, with no child support changing hands and immediate loss of custody for any parent who tries to “poison” the children against the other parent. Take away the cash prizes (custody and child support) and you’ll see the divorce rate plummet, marriage increase and intact families with children who are NOT on meds soar. Basically a stronger America!

The old guard Republicans have the state party in such disarray that they can barely scrub two Nickels together.

Paladino's a big, rich boy. Hopefully, he'll be able to somehow slay the Cuomo dragon. Honestly, I don't know how the heck he does it though in my former state. The libs have taken over and then some.

No more than you do. There are plenty of good people in this state.

If NJ and MA can elect Republicans in the Democratic stronghold they were, we can, too.

So was NJ and MA.

And look at primary results from other states.

Tea Party-Backed O’Donnell Upsets Castle in Delaware GOP Race
http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2010/09/14/hours-polls-close-gloves-come-delaware/

“Tea Party favorite Christine O’Donnell, a perennial candidate with no government experience, soundly defeated veteran politician Mike Castle for the Republican Senate nomination in Delaware Tuesday — posing a major upset to the political establishment on the last big day of primaries.

With all precincts reporting, O’Donnell beat Castle 53-47 percent. “

It appears that the bell is tolling for the dems.

There’s no weeping and wailing and gnashing of teeth over at DU yet about this, but they’re so desperate for support for obama that they’ve got a headline that states “Survey: President Obama retains wide approval in Europe”

WTH CARES what Europe thinks?!?! They’re really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

That was in Africa. We should spend $800,000,000 in the US on those programs.
