“The Democrat-turned-Republican has already risen to national prominence as the first Hispanic woman in the country to be nominated for governor by a major party.”

How many more times are we gonna fall for this? A leopard doesn’t change her spots. I for one, will never trust a democrat-turned-republican. The democrats are about to get trounced, there are going to be lots of them changing their party affiliation but not their agenda.

She’s been a Republican for 15 years; not a newbie in the party. And she’s won her District Attorney positions as one, too.

Reagan was a Democrat turned Republican, and quite a large number of other staunch conservatives. There are quite a few life long Republicans who are anything but conservative. Switching parties is not the marker of where to judge someone alone - it is where they stand on the issues - and if those stances changed right before an election as an opportunity, or if they are views they’ve held for awhile.

She looks like a real good candidate. Jim Geraghty at Natl Review had one of her campaign ads and it was funny.

Her opponent had some female teacher waxing about how great the Dem was on video. Mrs. Martinez comes back and says “Oh I know her - I sent her husband to jail for 23 years for kidnapping when I was prosecutor.”

You watch in and go...what!? Great campaign ad.

My 1st vote was for McGovern then Carter then worked for Kennedy in June 1980, couldn’t bring myselt to vote for Jimma so I thought I’d give Reagan a try, voted for Ronny again in 84 and never voted for a single dem again. RR was a dem till he turned. Soon, millions will turn, this change will be truly historic come Nov 2nd.

Ronald Reagan, Phil Gramm, Richard Shelby, Ben Lighthorse Campbell, lots of D’s turned R’s and did a fine job.

I sure hope you’re right. Since I wasn’t going to join to read the entire article, I wasn’t aware that she’s been republican for 15yrs. I stand corrected, perhaps she’s genuine. Hopefully, those in NM know her.

Admin moderator didn't like my ping list addition in #3, so I'll try it again without comments except to say the article is worth reading:

NM list PING!

(The NM list is available on my FR homepage for anyone to use. Let me know if you wish to be added or removed from the list. For ABQ Journal articles requiring a subscription, scroll down to the bottom of the page to view the article for free after watching a short video commercial.)

The article title is right on; take a look at this ad:

Border Security

BTW, I've worked in El Paso, the western edge of Juarez is opposite New Mexico while the main portion of the city is opposite El Paso. And in my office, I've got a lady whose mother still lives there (Juarez) and her family is afraid to go visit her. It's real bad and Obama is just making it worse.

I’m a Democrat turned Republican. I was 18 and it was NM and everyone was a Democrat. Even when I realized that I was really a Republican at heart I remained a Democrat because there was no reason to become a Republican because there were never any Republicans who had opposition in the primaries and so I stayed registered as a Democrat for a long time.

There are a lot of people who are Democrats when they are young (and stupid) and become Republican later because they have started paying attention to what is going on....and getting educated.

Don’t be too rigid in your thinking....when logic and truth get through, there will be a lot more Democrats(marxists/progressives)fleeing—the truth can no longer be hidden with the internet.
