The controversy over the construction of an Islamic Centre near New York’s Ground Zero has got everyone excited. Media, bloggers, activists and even president Obama have jumped in and out of the fray, with those opposing the centre being labelled “fascists” by the liberal media.

The right way to understand the controversy is through its symbolism. September 11, 2001, (9/11) was the first major terror attack on US soil.

Bunch of interesting new stuff but didn’t know this one:

“...September 11, 1683, was the date on which a Christian army defeated the Muslims in the
Battle of Vienna.”

From the article:
More importantly, Cordoba House is an attempt to rewrite history. One hundred years from now Americans will only see the mosque, and the Twin Towers will be distant memory. Two hundred years later, Americans might doubt if the Twin Towers ever existed.

Heck, why wait a hundred years? Some people now are trying to rewrite history by questioning whether the United States didn’t blow up the towers.

The article has some good points, from a country that had (and still has) its issues with Islam. India is much more tolerant of Islam than they are of Christianity (probably by necessity); Hindu nationalists violently oppose any attempt by Christians to prostheletyze there.

That is a mathematical certainty unless something miraculous changes the current trend. The prevailing cultures which will dominate this land beginning in the next 30-50 years will make sure of the fulfillment of this prophesy. I am sure, even in the dying days of the Roman Empire an average Roman citizen could not imagine a world without Rome, even if the writing was on the wall.

I agree this is quite possible....the dumbing down of Americans continues...critical thinking is becoming a thing of the past...a nation which has become followers of the PIPIED PIPERS.

It's the influex and gradual predominance of new cultures, along with sheer numbers, which seek not to integrate but to take over.

Yes, and we see this in other countries as well.

If that place gets built it will carry a stigma with it forever. Despite what it's called it will still be known as the Ground Zero Mosque.

Just as these two temples have enormous symbolic significance for Hindu devotees...
Besides, he doesn't make a very good argument when he goes about giving history lessons about what has not been forgotten in India.
