That’s possible too ... but I believe in spanking. It seeds up self control and culivates respect for authority. I didn’t do the sit in the cornor or go to your room stuff. They told me later they thought it was silly! Yes, an honest kid will tell you! They told me fear of REAL punishment helped them grow up.

Often kids sent to their rooms, read, play games and don’t see it as punishment. It’s stupid.

Yes, but this kid was 18 months old and it went on till he was six. 18 months is too young for a spanking, short of a single smack on the butt.

My son ONCE threw a tantrum in a store. He was 4 at the time, and had never done it before. He wanted a toy and I had said no. I simply, without saying a word, picked him up, squirming and kicking, and left the store without my purchases, put him in the car and home we went. I wasn't driving for very long when he said I'm sorry Mom, I won't do it again, can we go back? Of course I said no and explained why, which brought about some whimpering, but he never did that again. Ever.

My point was for the child to have his little fit in his room, and believe me they tire of it quickly when no one is watching and telling them to stop.
