Obama is not the descendant of slaves, so this term shouldn’t really be offensive (it’s idiomatic, not personal) — but I imagine the Left will be rather niggardly with their tolerance on this.

Would like more of the video to see it in context... I get the impression StupidRick said “cotton pickin” where an even less-learned person would have said “he’s the G_d-dammned president...”
I’m not trying to defend the putz - but this comment is much ado about nothing.

There is nothing demeaning about being a cotton picker....there were black and white pickers working side by side on struggling farms in rural areas. Cotton and tobacco built this nation before the industrial revolution.
