Facing bleak developments on multiple fronts, President Obama is turning his attention to an unlikely source of positive news: Iraq.
Obama will deliver a major address to the nation on Tuesday night highlighting his campaign promise to bring the war to a close. "As a candidate for this office, I pledged I would end this war. As president, that is what I am doing," Obama said in his weekly address, setting the stage for next week's speech. He said the United States is taking "an important step forward" as the last combat brigades leave the country, saying it will "mark the end of America's combat mission in Iraq."
For Obama, the shift to Iraq is an effort to celebrate good news. With little more than two months until the midterm elections, there has been a steady drumbeat of negative economic developments -- including a slumping housing market, stalled business spending and, on Friday, an announcement that the economy had grown more slowly this spring than anticipated.

They said the same thing about Vietnam, with results which feature large in history. Before Obama crows about W’s victory, let’s see what happens in the Middle East.
It aint over till the fat lady sings.
Let’s see what happens after we move out.
obamao speaks... satan smiles.

Well, too bad those in Iraq don’t feel the same way

So we leave Iraq whose oil production can affect what’s left of the worlds economy. Then double down squandering our remaining treasure in remote barren Afghanistan with a leader who’s ‘uncomfortable with victory’... for what exactly?
If the Taliban surrendered tomorrow, turned in their weapons, took an oath to Allah to lived peacefully in Afghanistan forever and did so...how would that change our lives?
It wouldn’t.
Afghanistan doesn’t mean anything at this moment in time. The native population hated life under the Taliban let them deal with the enemy remnants.
Soldiers should only be stationed where our national interest are at stake. And right now that would be on our southern border.
Based on a lie. We still have no fewer than nine combat brigades in Iraq. We just re-named them as “advise and assist” brigades. A rose by any other name...
Did he give any credit to GW Bush or the military? And yes, Obama was on the cutting edge of defeat, doing all he could to see us lose. What a scum piece of crap.
When things are bad at home, go the "foreign policy" route.
Hussein's problems: yeah, he was on the wrong side from the beginning, and the rest of his foreign policy is a shambles...
He will give passing credit to the military but he’ll maintain the “Bush is bad” crap.
Unfortunately, we will be back, only it will be worse.
I just wanted to read what you posted again even though you seriously UNDERESTIMATED the clown we have in the White House. If justice is done, the trials will start soon after Nov 2.
Oh yeah, GO SEC (and that includes those Dawgs!).
Yes, like many showboat politicians, Obama saw a victory parade coming down the street and jumped in front and pretended to be leading it. The image of him in a Drum Major's outfit prancing down a street fits him much better than the other images he tries to cultivate,
exactly
the enemy (al Qaeda and splinter radical islamists) are already positioning themselves to murder large numbers of Iraqi govt and civilians- having been given ample collegial warning by the obamites and american liberal left of the time and date, to the month, that we would be pulling back, watching, and failing to respond to a “civil war”
It’s not even Obama’s Exit Strategy.
